Rance Howard

It wasn't ...

What was the other one? Rance?

Rance, yeah.

Rance.

[laughs]

Rance Howard?

That name sucks.

His other brother is named Rance.

was at a helmet concert when she was conceived.

Rance Howard, of course, the dad.

Clint Howard, the brother that he always employs.

We've done, I think, more Clint

Howard movies than Ron Howard movies.

We did Evil Speak, Detangling Cash.

Rance Howard starred at Grizzly Park.

I have to say it.

Truly.

We've seen movies with Rance Howard and Ron Howard.

Uh-huh.

Clint just tops them all.

Uh, and I got to work with him right at the end on a really wonderful movie called Appleseed.

If there's any Rance Howard aficionados, to go and, and, and look up this movie Appleseed, directed by a guy named Michael Wirth.

Um, it, my dad was the star of the movie, and it was a wonderful, wonderful movie.

Uh, I play a part in it, so you know, I, and I was proud of it, and proud to get to work to- with him on a scene.

Francie Hawks-Swift.

Rance Howard.

Dick Hancock.

Woody Harrelson.

And he has the same strengths in almost all of his movies, which is incredible casting of bit parts.

Rance Howard, Mary Louise Wilson, Stacey Keech.

Stacey Keech,

those two sons of Stacey Keech.

Like Ron Howard's dad.

Rance Howard.

Yes.

Hey, fun fact, I met Henry Winkler once.

And for anybody listening, Paul put me onto it, but I've been listening to the audio version of a book called The Boys, which is sort of a dual biography or autobiography of Ron and Clint Howard.

And in listening to that, you really get a sense of how important Rance Howard, their dad, and their mom, Jean Howard, were in their life.

And I think I even read something, Paul, you probably came across this too, about how the interactions on the show, the relationship between Opie and Andy, always Often they look to the real-life relationship between Ronnie and Rance Howard for inspiration because they really had a model relationship, I guess you'd say, father and son.

So it's really interesting to hear that Eleanor Donahue picked up that as well.

It must have been just really clear to everybody.
