And so the Palestinians are not happy with being centrally governed by Ramallah.

They dream of going back to days when there was a mukhtar, a local governor in each city and area.

And in the same way in Israel, uh, we are far too centralized.

So there were a lot of moments we didn't know exactly how we would get to the next stage, but someone would appear.

For example, like Mohamed from Ramallah who appeared.

I was looking for someone to help in building the stage and doing the electricity.

And I've been looking for like three months.

And all of a sudden we have Mohamed from Ramallah coming.

And he's like, I do this.

And I'm like, oh my God, this is amazing.

within hours.

Israel closed the British consulate in East Jerusalem, kicked out UK staff from a security training mission in Ramallah, along with an aid coordination team from Gaza.

No comment from the White House.

We'll discuss whether the new sanctions can help stop settler expansion or whether it provides a pre-election PR gift for Benjamin Netanyahu.

Although Jerusalem was to remain under international mandate, Clearly, even then, dominion over Jerusalem was sensitive.

I've driven 40 minutes through the West Bank from Shiloh to Ramallah to meet Munna, a Christian Palestinian.

Christians have been in the Holy Land for over 2,000 years.

An important part of the Palestinian population now decreased to around 2%.

Palestinians were already living here.

How could this ever end well? I wanted to talk to a political activist and met Issa in Hebron in the West Bank.

Although it's only 26 miles from Ramallah, where Muna lives, it took us two hours to drive here because of checkpoints and road diversions.

I am a human rights defender in the city of Hebron.

It means worry, fear, trouble for the 40 Palestinian staff of our mission in East Jerusalem.

What is their future? What is their prospect? It means that our communication with the PLO and with the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah is hampered, not demolished, but is hampered because embassies function.

And in practice, the Consulate General in Jerusalem, as of last September, became the de facto embassy of the United Kingdom to Palestine, in the same way that Hossam Zoblot's mission in London became an embassy.

So it hurts.

They were only four times what they would be earning.

if they'd been working in Ramallah or Bethlehem.

But I didn't mind.

I had a very good relationship with them.
