Matt SheehanHOST
This should not be good for Michigan State, and I am not downplaying what Ben Moroski means to this team.
Matt SheehanHOST
However, I, I do wonder how big of a drop-off it will be, not because of, you know, Ben Moroski going to Rakeem Johnson, but just who Northwestern is as a pass rush team.
Matt SheehanHOST
They're not that great.
Matt SheehanHOST
They only have seven sacks on the season.
Matt SheehanHOST
So hey, last week MSU gave up two sacks, and I don't think neither were really on the offensive line to be quite frank.
Matt SheehanHOST
So yes, Moroski, you'd rather have him than not, don't get me wrong, certainly, but this is ki- this is the kind of pass rush that maybe you could hold your head above water against.
Matt SheehanHOST
So it'll look like odds are Rakeem Johnson at left tackle, Robert Wright over at right tackle, Antonio Johnson filling in when he has to at both those spots, and one other- One other bright spot before I, uh, kind of talk about maybe where, uh, there's, there's not hope.
Matt SheehanHOST
[laughs] Uh, this could be another Jayden Savory day.
Pat FitzgeraldSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
He's playing at a very high level, graded out 93%.
Pat FitzgeraldSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
Uh, Rakeem Johnson played well.
Pat FitzgeraldSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
Les played, you know, 22 out of 26, he played well.
Pat FitzgeraldSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
Jayden Savory played well.
Jacob CotsonikaHOST
He wasn't in during crunch time for Michigan State against Illinois.
Jacob CotsonikaHOST
It was Rakeem Johnson at left tackle and Robert Wright at right tackle.
Jacob CotsonikaHOST
You know, Nick Sharp, a lot, a guy with, uh, a lot of Power Five experience, Power Four experience.
Jacob CotsonikaHOST
He, I actually think he's been fine.
Jacob CotsonikaHOST
Nick Sharp is out of eligibility.
Jacob CotsonikaHOST
Like, that's four of your five right there.
Jacob CotsonikaHOST
I think the only starter that's coming back, that could come back is Rakeem Johnson.
Jacob CotsonikaHOST
So that portal, that's gonna be another big thing for Michigan State this coming winter.
Pat FitzgeraldSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
He's playing at a very high level, graded out 93%.
Pat FitzgeraldSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
Uh, Rakeem Johnson played well.
Pat FitzgeraldSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
Les played, you know, 22 out of 26.
Pat FitzgeraldSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
He played well.
Matt SheehanHOST
It's interesting.
Matt SheehanHOST
I wonder how much of a step back they'll take in the creativity, or that could all just be a smoke screen, and next thing you know, we got Rakeem Johnson doing post routes, uh, coming up Saturday.
Matt SheehanHOST
But that was-
Chris SolariGUEST
Yeah
Connor EaregoodGUEST
But the interior, they're starting to get some strides.
Connor EaregoodGUEST
Connor Moore and Rakeem Johnson, the two returners who you would probably expect to have some continuation from getting a lot of reps last season, I think have actually been problematic on that

offensive line, I would
Connor EaregoodGUEST
say.
Connor EaregoodGUEST
Now, they did switch positions in the offseason, which was really interesting by the coaching staff.
Connor EaregoodGUEST
They like flipped the two of them.
Connor EaregoodGUEST
So Rakeem Johnson's out at right tackle and Connor Moore's at left guard.
Connor EaregoodGUEST
So, you know, those two are sort of the guys that I think could make the most steps to make this offensive line better if they can improve in the next couple of weeks.
Jake BockovenHOST
At right guard, Nick Sharp, 6'2", 351 pounds at right guard there as a sixth-year player.
Jake BockovenHOST
And at right tackle, Rakeem Johnson, 6'4", 296 pound red shirt sophomore.
Jake BockovenHOST
That is your starting offense for the Michigan State Spartans.
Terrell FarleyHOST
All right, Buck.
