Raise Your Voice

Yes, Lizzie McGuire.

Um, Raise Your Voice.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[laughs]

As far as Hilary's performance in this movie, it's not very impressive, I'm sorry to say.

Hilary, I love you girl, but I don't know what happened between Raise Your Voice and this.

I know some people disagree, but I thought that her acting had really improved in A Cinderella Story and Raise Your Voice.

But in this movie, it's like she's not even trying.

There's little to no authenticity in her performance, and you can say, oh who cares, it's just a silly movie, but They're asking you to care about this sister relationship and their company going down the tubes and the loss of their father.

So then in 2021, kind of coming off of TikTok in general, popularizing dance trends.

This guy Devin took the performance of With Love from Jay Leno in 2007 and did the soft choreo along with the video and it went totally viral spawning tons of people to follow suit including Addison Rae which made it blow up even more.

So then you had thousands of people recreating this dance and then what also started happening is people started sharing the clip from Raise Your Voice The one where they blend Hilary, Hailey, and I think one of their girls' voice in the scene where John Corbett's character, the teacher, is having Hilary sing a cappella.

Okay.

It's from the movie Raise Your Voice.

It's called Someone's Watching Over Me.

That's a banger.

Mm.

I also highly recommend Raise Your Voice.

[laughs]

So this is the other Hilary Duff film.

Yes

... as well.

Um, but yeah, [laughs] Raise Your Voice.

Uh, and for the final-

This is episode 181, which also happens to be part 6 in my Hilary Duff series.

Today we are starting at the end of 2004 with the release of my favorite Hilary Duff movie, Raise Your Voice, and going into Hilary's 2005 Most Wanted Era.

This was big.

I mean, Hillary really gained a lot of fans around this time.

I have to say, though, that for me personally, this is probably going to be controversial.

I think that the golden era of Hillary Duff ended after Raise Your Voice, but before Wake Up came out.

It's not that I didn't love her after that, but I think the golden Hillary Duff era was Lizzie McGuire through early 2005.

It's not that there was anything wrong with her after that.

In his late teens, Lewis began receiving guest roles in various American drama series, including Criminal Minds and Malcolm in the Middle.

In 2004, he made his first film appearance as Engelbert Keary Wilson, a side character in the Hilary Duff film Raise Your Voice.

The following year, he appeared in Underclassmen, an action comedy starring Nick Cannon.

Between 2005 and 2006, he played Dennis Chilly Childress on The O.C., and he also starred in the fifth season of Smallville.

Are you ready to say what it is?

It's gonna be Raise Your Voice.

Whoa! Okay.

Hilary Duff.
