And then randomly it makes me think of Carry On by Rainbow Rowell.

And with an artist later, there is much more to come on our State Fair show this morning.

Cherry Baby is the latest novel from best-selling Omaha author Rainbow Rowell.

It's a story of relationships failing and arriving.

It's also about navigating weight issues in the era of GLP-1 weight loss drugs.

I picked up Cherry Baby at the library recently, part of my ongoing interest in books by Nebraska authors, especially when they have Nebraska settings.

Rainbow Rowell is one of our state's best-known contemporary authors.

Born in Nebraska in 1973, she now lives in Omaha.

She may be best known for the book Eleanor and Park, a young adult novel written in 2012.

Cherry enthusiastically embraces sex.

I found it interesting that the fairly graphic details describe what her partners do for Cherry and include much less about what she does for them.

I can't remember how many are left of these latest round of what-ifs.

Probably the best

And this is the first, which is maybe the more predictable of the two, but usually the better written.

So I thought this was very good.

Reading Rainbow Rowell doing Runaways is always phenomenal.

So yeah, another win.

The Wedding Album 30th Anniversary Special.

Uh, written by Jurgens, Rainbow Rowell, Weezy, and Karl Kessel, with artwork by Jurgens himself, Jerry Ordway, uh, Cy- uh, Cyan Torme- Tormé, and, uh, John Bogdanove, and Tom Grummett.

Getting a whole bunch of those legendary creators back onto the Superman book, plus with some modern twists as well.

You know, usually when people celebrate their 30th anniversary, wedding anniversary-

You know, screw it, I'm not naming all this, but i- there's a lot-

... there's a lot of stuff in this omnibus, including Rainbow Rowell's, uh, Runaways tie-in, uh, miniseries.

All five issues of that.

I don't think some of these will be a huge surprise.

The first one is Cherry Baby by Rainbow Rowell.

Knew it.

The reason- Crazy ... shock, oh my God, the crowd gasped and is in awe.

Rainbow Rowell's next book, childhood friends to lovers.

I was gonna say.

I'll give you a specific example from the fiction world.

I just read this book, um, Cherry Baby from Rainbow Rowell that I loved, and I particularly loved it because it is a romance novel where the protagonist is a woman who is the same size that I am and has just had a l- a life that I really can relate to.

And I thought this book provided the m- the most compelling view of what it is like to be a plus-sized person in a world where it feels like everyone around you is shrinking rapidly, and the whole body positivity movement has been, um, has crested and is falling, right? And it wasn't just a big bummer.

It was, like, joyful and hilarious, and she felt beautiful and sexy and all kinds of things, and tense about it, and stressed about it, and in her head about it.

And, um, [smacks lips] the last moment is kind of a, uh, it's kind of a deep cut, I guess.

I read that, I read that She-Hulk.

Well, there's actually two series by Rainbow Rowell and, uh-

So I'm, I'm looking forward to where we get with it, uh, once we get through sort of the, um, the melee part of it, which is where we are right now.

What If? Runaways #1 from Marvel, written by Rainbow Rowell, art by Zulema Scott Lavina.

This continues the 50th anniversary of What If one-shots that Marvel has been doing, and the idea here is what if the Runaways didn't run away? What if they found out about their evil parents, the Pride, and their parents instead said, "Hey, come in here, we wanna talk to you about this." What would happen next? Uh, first of all, I've been, uh, really loving these What If one-shots.

Really enjoying.

They've, they've been great across the board.

Um, you know, not all of them are even in terms of quality, but in general I've been liking the swigs here.

This one, loved Rainbow Rowell's run on Runaways.

Whenever she comes in for a miniseries it's great as well, so she has a really good handle on these characters.
