Just as a brief for what were the Young Patriots, how does your book build on that previous book that had come out?

Yeah, great book by James Tracy and Amy Sonney called Hillbilly Nationalists that looks at a bunch of radical white working class groups that popped up in the late 60s and early 70s.

And the Young Patriots were, so the Rainbow Coalition, which was headed up by Fred Hampton in Chicago, was this network of radical, you know, we say working class organizations, but they're really like, you know, out of work, lumpenproletariat, that's, you know, the Panthers use that term from Marx and Engels, but young people out of work, Outside the formal economy who are trying to build class power regard, you know, even though they're out they're often like unemployed and the Patriots the Patriots like they form in this neighborhood called uptown in Chicago where there's all kinds of like crazy shit and like urban renewal projects going on and stuff like that.

And they come out of an earlier radical community organizing group called JOIN that's kind of a coalition of students and poor people.

They just got gunned the fuck down.

because they became dangerous remember us talking about on here before excuse me Fred Hampton 21 year old leader who founded the original Rainbow Coalition before it was usurped by criminal African American leaders so to speak yeah his feeling was and when he was preaching again, 21 years old in Chicago, was that we can't let the government play divide and conquer with us over our skin color.

The poor should unite and support the poor regardless of skin color.

Well, that is a problem and it was a problem.

Um, the one thing that we, we kind of, like, wanna bridge the gap is, like, a lot of conservatives have a lot of experience, like, getting ready for, like, disaster events and, like, organizing, like, locally about, like, very, like, centric issues, but they don't have a lot of experience in, like, grassroots activism with different, like, issues, like interconnected, like, solidarity.

You know, it worked so well when Fred Hampton did in Chicago with the Rainbow Coalition that the FBI had to assassinate him.

So we're trying to get those vibes back, I guess.

If you still think communism is a bad idea, I want you to do research into the amount of money that the United States has funded into suppressing communist movements.

They've done this across the world, but the most notable case is Fred Hampton and the Rainbow Coalition.

Fred Hampton was a revolutionary in the civil rights era, and he started the Rainbow Coalition, which was uniting working-class people across Black, white, gay, everyone, and that's when they killed him.

That's when the FBI went into his house and killed him while he was sleeping next to his pregnant wife.

They were so scared that white, brown, Black people would unite under the cause of realizing that the real oppression is capitalism, the real oppression is the bourgeoisie, that they killed him.
