Another unranked player, Raphael Jodar.

A year ago, Jodar was hitting the books for the first weeks of classes at the University of Virginia and preparing to represent it in the college tennis tournament.

Now he's the world's number 13 ranked player.

That doesn't happen all that often.

Already a dangerous combination of steady and explosive, Jodar is also raw and seasoned at the same time.

His serve can make him look vulnerable, but it can also explode off a hard court and get him lots of free points.

His hyper-aggressive returning can put even the best in the game on their back foot.

I just don't.

Because I can't reconcile the Yoda we've watched for the last four months with the player we watched in this match.

If Hoda was playing at even 50% or maybe even 60%, of the level we've seen from him recently, I would have fully expected him to make this match more competitive and probably win it.

Instead, there was nothing there.

Hadar hasn't said that.

There's no reported injury we're pointing towards.

But just watching the level of tennis, I find it incredibly difficult to believe that this was simply Rafael Jodar, we've been watching all year, suddenly getting completely outplayed by Boo.

It was too big of a drop-off.

So it's been a little challenging, this US Open.

Uh, I had a, I had a play on Jodar to, uh, today, and he was supposed to go off at 12:00, and he's playing tomorrow.

Thanasis Kokkinakis was due to play Rafa Hoda, the 19-year-old Spanish sensation, and in speaking with Thanasis the other day, he said he was eager to play, but he added that he would be more enthused if he was fully fit.

Kokkinakis rolled his ankle recently and as a result has now decided not to play.

He's withdrawn.

So, look, Thies, everything's cooking for him right now.

He's someone I think we should be watching out for the U.S. Open.

I don't think he's being talked about enough.

I'm not sure why.

So at least he has that behind him.
