I'm going to have to check for you, it's called Is God Is, which apparently is quite a well-done thriller.

And, uh, I just recently...

I finally saw Rabbit Trap, which is fantastic.

'Cause everybody was like, "See Rabbit Trap," and then I, I met Daniel Noah, the producer, and I said, "I haven't seen Rabbit Trap," and I was so embarrassed.

[laughs]

But I finally saw it, caught up on that.

It's great.

Today's guest is a special one for me.

Bryn Chaney taught me how to make my first short film that got me into film school and now he's written and directed his debut feature, Rabbit Trap, starring Dev Patel.

Brent has been making short films for years, always drawn to folklore, fairy tales and that strange kind of in-between world.

He made Rabbit Trap independently, it got picked up by Focus Features at Sundance.

This is a really honest conversation about what independent filmmaking actually looks like, how he got that film made, how he found his collaborators, what he'd do differently and what it feels like to watch a scene you wrote play out in front of you for the first time.
