Quiet Fire

For our Juneteenth concert in Tulsa, Maz was inspired to reimagine Koloshone, the winter, from another example of an old song made contemporary.

I decided to use that song that Roberta Flack sings on Quiet Fire, Go Up, Moses.

And I

was like, really, really love that song because of how it flips around the old song that Paul Robeson sang and a bunch of other people did too, which was Go Down, Moses.

Beautiful music.

Roberta Flack, Quiet Fire.

Well, so interesting that you would bring that record up because Sunday of Sister Jones is one of the most important songs I've ever heard.

And arguably still ranks as my favorite song.
