George NickersonGUEST
12:52
Immediately following my CC experience, I played senior hockey out in British Columbia.
George NickersonGUEST
12:59
And as a member of the Quesnel Kangaroos of the Caribou Hockey League, we were Western Canadian champions.
George NickersonGUEST
13:06
And it was a great and a new thrill for me because it was the first time ever that I participated in a national championship.
George NickersonGUEST
13:14
Our kangaroo team, senior hockey club, defeated from kind of west toward Manitoba.

35 MINS LATER

George NickersonGUEST
48:38
Take care of those you love.
Rich InesonHOST
48:40
perfect answer george i'm going to ask you a few quick what i call quick change questions short answers unless one of these these questions brings back a story but the best player you ever played with
George NickersonGUEST
48:52
oh boy um i've played with a lot of them i'm going to say wayne holmes wayne holmes Wayne and I were teammates in Quesnel, British Columbia and in Colorado.
George NickersonGUEST
49:07
Wayne is a Fort Francis kid and we played years of hockey.
Dennis Hawkins-BogleGUEST
7:23
Umimaq means muskox.
Dennis Hawkins-BogleGUEST
7:26
And another interesting thing about my, um, uh, educational career is that I was, uh, my last principalship for seven years, I was the principal of the high school that I graduated from in Quesnel.
Alexandra AmorHOST
7:41
Mm.
Dennis Hawkins-BogleGUEST
7:42
And that really was an amazing opportunity to close a circle because I, I grew up in Quesnel.
Dennis Hawkins-BogleGUEST
7:53
I was born and raised in Quesnel.
Dennis Hawkins-BogleGUEST
7:56
I came of age in Quesnel in the, the '60s and '70s.
Dennis Hawkins-BogleGUEST
8:01
Um, I, uh, reflect a lot on my, on my upbringing in Quesnel, uh, about the, uh, socialization process and how in the '60s and '70s boys were socialized, uh, to, to be one way and of course, um, girls another way.
Dennis Hawkins-BogleGUEST
8:22
And, and, and for those of us that didn't quite fit that mold, there was, uh, an incredible amount of dissonance and distress, um, trying to figure out ourselves and trying to figure out where we, we fit in.
Barb BachmeierGUEST
9:04
So a lot of the people that live in, that work in the forest industry are in actually the electoral areas rather than the city itself.
Barb BachmeierGUEST
9:13
So, um, I believe there's 90 people that are off right now from the, one of the pulp mills in Quesnel, and that is definitely affecting some of the, uh, grocery stores and all of this other stuff.
Barb BachmeierGUEST
9:28
Now, um, some of the things that are in the background are things like retraining of forestry workers, uh, uh, through a federal government program, and I've been encouraging one, uh, mining outfit to look at that, and I'm hoping that we could actually get a new mine in my area.
Barb BachmeierGUEST
9:50
But who knows?
Barb BachmeierGUEST
11:48
And there could be an alternate route.
Barb BachmeierGUEST
11:51
And that would then get people moving, and it's not that far away.
Barb BachmeierGUEST
11:56
And I've also been working with this group, like, when they decided to cu- close that road, the Quesnel-Hixon Road, I said, "Look, we have a school bus now that has to come down Highway 97 and stop to turn left to get down Olson Road, and somebody eventually, on a 100-kilometer-an-hour section of road, is gonna run right into the back end of the bus." So the provincial government, thank goodness, is widening the road and putting in turning lanes going north and turning lane going south.
Barb BachmeierGUEST
12:32
They also have committed to, um, fixing Olson Road.
Alan WishartHOST
39:25
We've read out stats a couple of times when I'd gotten them.
Alan WishartHOST
39:29
And then this last week, they finished up their season in Quesnel.
Alan WishartHOST
39:34
So their season is done.

It's more so to highlight that we've really been seeing that cloud cover in the morning hours and then breaks as we get in through the day.
Yvonne SchellPANELIST
26:55
This is taken by Kathy and Dragon Lake and this is in Quesnel.
Yvonne SchellPANELIST
26:58
So thank you so much for that gorgeous shot along the water.
Yvonne SchellPANELIST
27:01
all right here's the plan especially as we get in late this evening overnight tonight we are going to see a few clouds in the mix across metro vancouver and then we'll be back into some sunshine temperatures for tomorrow hoping to hit highs up to 18 degrees which takes us right around the average for this time of the year we have seen some instability most of the wet weather has been along the north and central coast it'll continue to fall heavy at times periods of rain and with this frontal system We're also seeing windy conditions if you're closer to the water with gusts of up to 40 kilometers per hour.
Yvonne SchellPANELIST
27:49
It's dry but cool overnight and for the early morning hours near Fort Nelson will dip down below the freezing mark.
Yvonne SchellPANELIST
27:55
Prince George, that chance of showers morning and early afternoon drying out.
Yvonne SchellPANELIST
27:59
Quesnel will see some breaks in there with highs closer to 15 degrees.
Yvonne SchellPANELIST
28:03
It's cooler for the early morning hours but will rebound through the afternoon.
Kevin ToyeHOST
15:22
Big buck, private land, shot, massive buck, over 200 inches, like 220, 230 inches.
Isaac BedfordGUEST
15:32
I know that there's a couple of them out of Quesnel that get taken every year.
Isaac BedfordGUEST
15:35
Like there's, there's this one guy, um, I want to say he's killed two or three bucks over 200.
Isaac BedfordGUEST
15:40
He owns a ranch just out of Quesnel and the only guy hunting them and just, yeah, he just, he loves breeding bucks.
Isaac BedfordGUEST
15:50
He feeds them basically in the, in the winter and all that.
Isaac BedfordGUEST
15:53
So, I mean, it kind of comes with it.

Jerry FarkasSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
24:43
Um, did a lot of figure skating as a, as a youngster, and sort of lost her way when she came up to Prince George.
Joel McKayHOST

You're going to have to bear with me.
Joel McKayHOST
0:36
Who am I? Well, currently, my day job, other than filling in here on occasion, is as the city manager in Quesnel.
Joel McKayHOST
0:44
And you might ask the question, why is the city manager of Quesnel talking to Prince George? Why is anyone from Quesnel? Really, the reason for all of this is to promote Quesnel.
Joel McKayHOST
0:58
So, the excuse and reasoning and rationale for doing this is, A, I love Prince George.
Joel McKayHOST
1:04
I live in Prince George.
Joel McKayHOST
1:05
I call it home.
Joel McKayHOST
1:05
But also, I do want to point Prince George people in the direction of Quesnel.
Joel McKayHOST
1:10
So...
Christopher BrownHOST
47:35
We're watching communities across Northern BC.
Christopher BrownHOST
47:38
And for those who are watching and listening, for Northern BC, we are considering anything north of Quesnel, British Columbia.
Christopher BrownHOST
47:46
So anything north of Quesnel, for us, is considered Northern BC.
Christopher BrownHOST
47:51
Or if you were looking at a regional map, you would look at the North Central Local Government Association members.
Christopher BrownHOST
47:59
So that is the... smaller entity of UBCM, which I found out this week, does not have any standing with UBCM because they don't consider it an organization.
Christopher BrownHOST
48:25
So There's your little snippet of that.
Christopher BrownHOST
48:29
But for us right now, we're looking at the North Central Local Government Association.
Christopher BrownHOST
48:34
So Quesnel, Prince Rupert, Smithers, Prince George, Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, Fort Nelson, all the way up to the Yukon Northwest Territory border.
