And just when you thought the story about Townsend, who spends his days preparing training equipment and player uniforms at Brumby's headquarters, getting a super rugby AUS call-up couldn't get any better, Nick lights up the room.

Nick Townsend is on the sideline at every Queanbeyan Whites game, cheering for fourth grade in the morning before watching his brother play in the John I Dent Cup in the afternoons.

He's wearing his boots every time, even though a rare genetic disorder, Scraben-Diadoff syndrome, prevents him from playing.

Now he'll be standing on a sideline in Bungendore, watching the Brumbies take on the New South Wales Waratahs in their Super Rugby AUS season opener on Sunday, and his brother will be starting at lock.

And make no mistake, he's earned his spot.

Townsend is the heart and soul of Queanbeyan's rugby club.

having become the latest player to reach 100 first-grade games for the Whites.

He was a key part of the club's premiership win in 2022 and soon caught the eye of Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stewart.

Police say it caused minimal damage, but the fire is being treated as suspicious and anyone with information is asked to come forward.

In what may be one of the most brazen home burglaries in recent memory, a 63-year-old Queanbeyan woman was left bewildered after thieves allegedly broke into her home.

stole the keys to all three of her family's vehicles, and swapped one stolen car for another.

After driving off in Carolyn Parris's SUV, the intruders returned the trashed vehicle to a street, only to allegedly drive off in the family's second car.

They were amazing.

Featuring defenders might return for the third car, Ms. Parris was forced to shell out more than $800 to replace the locks across the vehicles and to fix damage to her SUV.

In the days following the break-in, she and a partner reportedly drove around Queanbeyan and parts of Canberra hoping to locate their missing 2007 Subaru Forester.

Their surprise break came on Saturday night when a resident contacted Ms. Parris to report that a matching Subaru was parked at a unit complex on Broughton Place in Queanbeyan.
