Pyramid Lake Indian Reservation

The Morrison Creek trout carried the lineage of the historic Pyramid Lake cutthroat.

Confirming their ancestry and returning Pyramid Cutthroat to their native water took the collaborative work of biologists, hatchery crews, and the Pyramid Lake Paiute tribe.

Their future depends on the continued work of the tribe, agencies, and conservation groups like Trout Unlimited to protect habitat and reconnecting spawning grounds.

In Morrison Creek, the trout survived by becoming small.
