Mind you, that must have been quite something to be put in there overnight with 500 pigeons.

I'm beginning to find out that some of these places were purpose built and some they would use mainly dovecots because they were quite strong brick built buildings and they would use those as well.

The closed gates are of heavy old oak and iron, all eaten with rust.
