When I was most competitive, I was probably 18 to 20.
Paddy HaynesGUEST
4:04
I'd started going to the gym in that time, but literally go into like a commercial gym here, like a pure gym and just doing bits like bodybuilding stuff, trying to grow muscle.
Paddy HaynesGUEST
4:14
And then it was when I moved back in 2019 where I sort of went back to a gym in Banbury where I'm from.
Paddy HaynesGUEST
4:22
And they said, like, you're very strong.
Peter WhiteHOST
5:08
Yeah.
Peter WhiteHOST
5:08
Um, I wish I knew the reason why.
Peter WhiteHOST
5:14
Um, so when you, when you said that you went to Pure Gym, at what point were you like, So people, other people are saying you're pretty strong, but like there's pretty strong.
Peter WhiteHOST
5:25
And then there is rogue invitational and strong man and all that
Salman ChaudhryGUEST
1:24
But yeah, so I've ran two blocks off.
Salman ChaudhryGUEST

transformer chris right and i'll do my first build walk with him um probably got into training i'm 25 year old probably got into training just before covid um and got a good few months at it kind of unstructured kind of just finding my feet in the gym would literally just go into the gym and like jump on one of the bikes for like 10 minutes and then jump between the pen loaded machines in pure gym and just kind of you know i think i think when you first start like just getting comfortable in that environment is pretty important so started like that and then um kind of used youtube videos and stuff for tutorials And then lockdown happened.
Salman ChaudhryGUEST
2:13
So this must have been...
Salman ChaudhryGUEST
2:14
So I started university in 2019.

6 MINS LATER

Salman ChaudhryGUEST
8:07
I can't remember.
Salman ChaudhryGUEST
8:08
It was just starting out.
Salman ChaudhryGUEST
8:10
um followed that and then at this point like cardio was just like it was completely on an uninteresting cardio obviously chris mentioned running that i don't know um but was just just wanted to get big like most 18 year old lads to be honest um yeah um followed that and then obviously the gyms reopened to some extent in fact chris Were you at Pure Gym around? I was, yeah.
Chris RendellHOST
8:38
I was there.
Temi AlchemyHOST
21:04
I must have went to...
Temi AlchemyHOST
21:06
I must have went to Pure Gym.
Temi AlchemyHOST
21:07
Yeah.
Temi AlchemyHOST
21:08
Pure Gym is...

21:10
One of the ones, anyway.
Paul FletcherHOST

I can't believe this is real.
Paul FletcherHOST

The company Pure Gym partnered with a personal trainer to create a focused three-part warm-up aimed directly at controller users.

The routine features finger push-ups, hand curls, and thumb-to-fingertip stretches designed to prevent stiff joints, sore wrists, and hand cramps as millions of players get ready to spend hours exploring Vice City on release day.
RyderHOST
9:33
Man, my mom way ahead of the game on this with her compression gloves for the carpal tunnel and all that kind of stuff.
SammyHOST
10:33
Now, I just wanted to dive into a little bit of data about the industry.
SammyHOST
10:36
So I think Pure Gym's latest fitness report says that more than 20,000 new fitness professionals qualified in the UK in the previous year, but only 7% of the PTs they surveyed had been working in the industry for more than 10 years.
SammyHOST
10:47
So lots of people... are leaving, right? So why are so many newly qualified PTs struggling to build, I suppose, a sustainable career in the industry? And I suppose, what would you say are the biggest barriers between qualifying and actually becoming successful? Because they're two different things, right?
Ben AldertonGUEST
11:06
Yeah.
SammyHOST
15:53
There are still barriers to entry.
SammyHOST
15:55
Do I feel confident going into the gym? Where does that sit within your model? And do you think the gym industry is catering for that?
Ben AldertonGUEST
16:05
Yeah, I think going back to the Pure Gym report, I think it was like 12% of people reported that they had gym intimidation.
Ben AldertonGUEST
16:13
Yeah, which when you look at how many you said gym visits and how many gym members there are, it's a massive market of people that quite frankly just don't feel like they're fitting in.
Graham AmbroseHOST
7:05
Yeah
Angus WarburtonHOST
7:05
... where they'll be as expensive as going to a Pure Gym, but you get an incredible atmosphere.
Angus WarburtonHOST
7:10
You're around jacked people, and actually some of the kit, the old school kit's so cool, isn't it?
Graham AmbroseHOST
7:14
It was great.
Jason CookHOST
6:41
A non-commercial gym?
Carl HutchinsonHOST
6:42
Like not a Pure Gym, not a gym group, not a Nuffield, not a-
Jason CookHOST
6:46
All right
Carl HutchinsonHOST
6:47
...
Carl HutchinsonHOST
7:16
It's like they've got something to prove.
Jason CookHOST
7:17
Yeah.
Carl HutchinsonHOST
7:18
Like at a, a Pure Gym.
Carl HutchinsonHOST
7:19
Mind you, I say it, I'm slagging off people who say a Pure Gym is too good for me.
