Puget Sound

The task force wound down.

Then in January of 1979, in a fishing town on Puget Sound, 1,100 miles north, a security guard with a California driver's license murdered two college students in a house he'd been hired to protect.

And a Bellingham detective picked up the phone and called Los Angeles.

What followed was the longest criminal trial in American history at that time.

So ended this battle of the Straits.

In later years, however, after American settlers had come into Oregon Country and many had built houses in the little villages around Puget Sound, a small armed American ship was surrounded by the canoes of these Indians and captured.

The Indians not only captured the ship, but destroyed it.

End of Chapter Four.

He had no goods and only wanted to bother.

These Indians were the Walla Wallas, the Cayuses, the Yakamas, and the Nez Percés, and others of eastern Washington and Oregon.

They were the bold, daring horse Indians, and very different from the canoe Indians of the lower Columbia and of Puget Sound.

They did nothing but hunt, gamble, race horses, or go to war, and afterwards have their scalp dances.

Nellie leased the building, renamed it the LaSalle Hotel, and turned it into the most lucrative, high-volume brothel in the Pacific Northwest.

Between 1942 and the mid-1950s, Puget Sound was a revolving door of hundreds of thousands of young soldiers and sailors shipping out to the Pacific Theater.

For many of them, the LaSalle was their last stop before an artillery shell took them apart on an atoll in the South Pacific.

Nellie provided whatever they wanted.

That's, yeah, it sounds like an insurance conference.

It's like Northwest Regional Intergroup of the Puget Sound of the greater Seattle area, sexaholics, including Portland.

We were just eating together and our server came up to us and said, oh, what are you guys doing? And I said, we're going to retreat.

And I was wondering if she was going to ask what kind of retreat.

I love Black God, Link God and stuff.

And, you know, in my current day job, I coordinate the cargo vessels coming to Puget Sound.

So, you know, they enter foot container ships and tankers.

And so, yeah, so this morning I was just ordering pilots for those.

Basically, you know, I'm kind of the third party, basically.

The tanker doesn't know anything about Puget Sound, and the terminal doesn't want to hold the vessel's hand, and so basically I coordinate their schedule and make sure everyone shows up on time.

That's a big

deal.

And she said, what have you done? And I said, what do you mean? And she goes, are you watching the news? And I said, no.

And she says, can you find a TV? And so I turned on the TV and the headlines across every news channel in the Puget Sound said the San Juan Islands, the hottest market in the U.S., Long story short, that attracted the buyer infamously.

And so those are the kind of things where you see something and it's not happening.

You have to work to find and create the opportunity.

And we did it at Dan Ivanoff.

He's prolific here in this area.

He built the Bravern Schneider West and then they had sold it, but he was just in the Puget Sound Business Journal.

He bought it.

Oh, yeah.

I was out there paddling this weekend at the Boulder Res, and then last week I was visiting my sister in Puget Sound, and we spent a whole day out paddling.

Some ocean time, some freshwater time.
