Public transport in the Wellington Region

Well, parts of our public transport, we contract out.

Metlink in Wellington is the local government arm that runs the public transport system.

But then we contract that through to like TransDef, for example, who own the buses and pay the bus drivers and etc.

Auckland has a similar system with some of their bus services.

Yeah, these are what you might call intra-regional trains.

So Wellington to Palmerston North with fewer stops along the way and Wellington to Masterton, which is already a route for Metlink, but we'll be increasing the number of trains on that route quite significantly.

Often buses on on that route.

Why is that? Is that because work's being done on the line?
