And if you speak up in the public interest and you receive detriment, then it's breaking the law.

Your only right to use that piece of law is if you then take it to an employment tribunal.

And do you think whistleblowers are better protected now?

One of the problems is we've still got this PEDA, Public Interest Disclosure Act, which people rely on and they cut and paste it and they say, oh, you have protection under PEDA, but you only have protection if you can get yourself to an employment tribunal, present your case, fight the odds and win, which remember only 3% do.
