This is a mismatch between stereotypically feminine traits and what we culturally code as leadership.

And this is from Alice Eagley and Stephen Corow, whose paper, Role Congruity Theory of Prejudice Towards Female Leaders, was published in Psychological Review back in 2002.

And their work builds on Virginia Shine's landmark 1973 finding that managers, especially male ones, unconsciously equate good manager with male.

And then a 2024 study of executive promotions that was published in the Journal of Corporate Finance found women were promoted at a 16 percent lower rate than men.

So we're gonna dive into this one a little bit more in part two as well.

But to kinda tee us up for that, this study by Lee and Pinker in 2010 in Psychological Review, they gave people scenarios and then asked them, what would you say in this scenario? And the scenarios were starting a relationship, propositioning someone for a relationship, escalating a relationship, or breaking up a relationship.

And it was what? Just open, just like essay question style, what would you say? Or was it multiple choice? Like [laughs] what-
