Psalm 44

Why art thou cast down, O my soul, and why art thou disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him, who is the health of my countenance and my God.

Psalm 44 We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.

How thou didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plantedest them.

How thou didst afflict the people, and cast them out.

And of course, I've told you, you want to memorize this stuff, personalize it, read it, personalize it, memorize it, right? He is commanding victories for us.

Psalm 44, verse 4.

He plans great escapes to get you out of whatever messes you find yourself in, whether self-inflicted or not.

Crushed.

That's the language that we see in Psalm 44 where the psalmist is crying out to God.

As he describes this feeling of being oppressed, he cries out, why do you hide your face? Why do you forget our affliction and oppression? You see the word.

For our soul is bowed down to the dust.

When the wicked rule, the people groan.

There is a weariness.

There is a Psalm 44 moment.

Why, oh Lord? Have you forgotten our affliction and oppression? There is a groaning.

You are worthy at all times to be praised by happy voices, O Son of God, O Giver of life, and to be glorified through all the worlds.

The psalm appointed for this evening is Psalm 44.

We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us what you did in the days of old, how you drove out the nations with your hand and planted our fathers in the land, how you destroyed the nations and cast them out For they did not possess the land by their own sword, neither was it their own arm that helped them, but by your right hand and your arm and the light of your countenance, because you favored them.

You are my king, O God.
