Psalm 41

Make no tarrying, O my God.

Psalm 41 Blessed is he that considereth the poor.

The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.

The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive, and he shall be blessed upon the earth, and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.

He knew what it was to be surrounded by enemies.

Listen to what David says of experience that he relays to us in Psalm 41, verses 8 and 9.

They say a deadly thing is poured out on him.

He will not rise again from where he lies.

Even my close friend in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.

Yeah, Jesus is the greater David, and as David's sufferings were great, it is not then to be expected, is it, that the sufferings of David's greater son, of David's Lord, would suffer in such a way that would overshadow the sufferings of David? Why consider only Psalm 2 and never consider Psalm 22 or Psalm 41 and a host of other psalms that speak of the suffering of David? And that's what Jesus meant when he said, O slow of heart, how like a runner whose feet are clogged in the mud you move so slowly to embrace everything the scriptures say.

And of course, as I said, using David as a forerunner of the Messiah is easy and natural.

But you can use all the First Testament figures that way if you can refrain from making them into a morality tale.

Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha.

let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee let such as love thy salvation say continually the lord be magnified but i am poor and needy yet the lord thinketh upon me thou art my help and my deliverer make no tarrying o my god Psalm 41 Blessed is he that considereth the poor.

Psalm 41 thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.

I said, Lord, be merciful unto me, heal my soul, for I have sinned against thee, mine enemies speak evil of me.

When shall he die, and his name perish? And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity.

Psalm 41, David writes this, even my close friend and whom I trusted, who ate my bread, I hosted him at my house at my own table.

He ate my bread.

He's lifted his heel against me.
