Psalm 113

And so let's read this together and let's see what God's word will say to us.

Psalm 113, verse one says this, praise the Lord.

Yes, give praise, O servants of the Lord.

Praise the name of the Lord.

Psalm 113 verses 5 through 8 in the New Jerusalem Bible.

Who is like Yahweh our God? His throne is set on high, but he stoops to look down on heaven and earth.

He raises the poor from the dust.

So El Elyon, God most high.

I mean, to just think about the name, to think about Psalm 113, where we know he reigns, he looks down upon the heavens.

So he is this big, vast creator God over all.

And yet he looks down upon the earth and he sees the barren woman and he sees the orphan and he cares about them and extends care to them.

So here's one of the main things that I learned during that.

And I think that it's in a couple of Psalms that maybe Psalm 113, I should look it up and let you know, and you can put it in the show notes, where we're told that God is reigning over it all.

He's in the expanse.

He has put the stars in the sky.

knowing that this God reigning over it all is reigning over the particulars of my life.

I can press pause on those petitions and simply praise him for his bigness and his small intimateness at the same time.

i'll read it to wrap up psalm 113. praise the lord blessed be the name of the lord from this time forth and forever from the rising of the sun to the going down of it and from the east to the west the name of the lord is to be praised the lord is high above all nations and his glory above the heavens who is like the lord our god who has his seat set on high who humbles himself to regard the heavens and the earth the lord raises the poor out of the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap and the dunghill, that he may seat them with princes, even with the princes of his people.

He makes the barren woman to be a homemaker and a joyful mother of children.
