Psalm 110

And when my temple is among them forever, the nations will know that I am the Lord who makes Israel holy.

Psalm 110 A Psalm of David The Lord said to my Lord, Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet.

The Lord will extend your powerful kingdom from Jerusalem.

You will rule over your enemies.

But Jesus, this high priest, it says that He is seated at the right hand of the throne of majesty in heaven.

Now, what's significant about that is that this is a reference to Psalm 110 verse 1.

If you take notes in your Bible, you might, next to verse 1 here in Hebrews 8:1, you might jot down Psalm 110 verse 1.

Psalm one one zero colon one.

Because this is a reference back to that psalm.

Psalm 110 is the psalm most-- the Old Testament text most quoted in the New Testament.

Psalm 110 begins this way: "The Lord said to my Lord, 'Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool under your feet.'" The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand." So when the author of Hebrews is using this language that He is sitting at the right hand of majesty, He's sitting at the right hand of God, he is indicating that Jesus is not just the high priest, but Jesus is the Messiah.

Jesus is the Savior.

First of a king, secondly a priest, thirdly a prophet.

CHAPTER XII.

By what means did Jesus Christ undertake the office of an eternal priest? Answer.

For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet.

Paul is confirming what the Lord revealed through the psalmist in Psalm 110.

The Lord says to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet." Peter further confirms this started happening at Christ's first coming by quoting this verse in the very first Christian sermon in history in Acts 2.

Christ isn't just reigning in our hearts or in the church, but in the world, the world the Father gave Him all authority over in Heaven and on Earth.

One is Yahweh, the other one is Adonai.

Those are, those are separate from one another as, as we see in Psalm 110 verse one.

"The Lord Yahweh said to my Lord, Adonai," and that's David, the king speaking, who therefore has two lords, one called Yahweh, one called A- how can the King of Israel have two lords? This is one of the reasons that becomes one of the most quoted passages in the New Testament for Jesus.

He- here is Moses praying to the Lord that the, that the Lord would send the Lord.

The Lord saying in John, I have ordained you.

The article of faith, the fifth article of faith, we believe a man must be called by prophecy and by the laying on of hands.
