PS Waverley

which I feel is normal because most of the ones in Bristol are around that and in Milford, we've got ones that are higher.

But then I was on the Waverley yesterday and we used a tug getting into Portsmouth that was 26, and I had to ask the pilot three times.

I was like, 26? Two six? He was like, yes.

And I was like, that's nothing he's like but waverly doesn't need it i was like no i mean fair yeah and but they use those for the big container ships and 40 ton tugs whereas that would be really underpowered for us in bristol because i guess it's because of the locks you know we need the power and i'm on full power quite a lot you know a tug my tug gets worked um she's a good strong girl

So we're not at like low, low water.

But yeah.

yeah it looks like there's all mud flats at the side and you have to be really careful about where you're going and pay a lot of attention to your instruments and visually you know because it's a different world out there when there's no water yeah um but yeah no i haven't seen that video but it does bring me something that i wanted to say because you have a lot of yachty audiences I would say and that is please stay away from ships and stay away from tugs however close you think is acceptable like double it triple it is not acceptable and I don't mean that in like we don't want to be near you I mean that it's so dangerous and I don't understand how people on small boats don't appreciate the danger of these massive ships like i guess they don't know about the forces the interaction forces like if you're a little boat passing a big ship you can be sucked into that ship and so if you think you're far enough away you're not because you're so so close to being sucked in and you don't know like you don't know how that ship's maneuvering like that one with the tug Yesterday, I was on the Waverley in the Shield Hall.

We were passing with the Shield Hall, and we were not far away from each other, and a yacht came down through the middle.

well of course well I'm a Ouija so I remember the Waverley and everybody going dune the water and of course you've got award-winning loos as well don't you

Yeah, they are.

They are.

But that's where the, you know, the phrase you say, I'm steaming or I'm going to get steaming.

That comes from the Waverley steamer because you could drink alcohol on the steamer and come across to the island, whereas you couldn't in a lot of other places.

So, and the Waverley steamer is still a really, really popular part of Bute and people still use it.

And it's really great for the town and for the island.
