Proverbs 5

Let's dive into today's devotional and it's called Nothing is Hidden.

Proverbs 5, verse 21 says, We see that King Solomon is closing this chapter with a very honest warning.

With the reminder that we are not operating in secret.

He says, your ways are in full view of the Lord.

Today we're continuing Proverbs chapter 5, and the devotional is called Rejoice in Her.

Proverbs 5, 18 says, You see, this verse, it's a blessing.

It's not a rule.

We see that Solomon has been spending 17 verses warning his son, and now he stops and he blesses him.

Marriage is indeed a covenant as so declared in Proverbs 2 verse 17, Ezekiel 16 verse 8, and lots of other places.

Solomon in Proverbs 5 enjoins couples to rejoice in the wife of your youth.

One Puritan commentator really says it as sharply as I think can be expressed.

He says, She whom you thus wronged was the companion of those earlier and brighter days, when in the bloom of her young beauty she left her father's house and shared your early struggles and rejoiced in your later success, who walked arm in arm with you along the pilgrimage of life, cheering you in its trials by her gentle ministry.

Keep your feet from following evil.

Proverbs 5.

My son, pay attention to my wisdom.

Listen closely to my words of insight, so you'll act with discernment and your speech will uphold true knowledge.

This week we're in Proverbs chapter 5, and today's devotional is called, Guard Your Ears Before You Guard Your Eyes.

Today's scripture verse is Proverbs 5, 1, and 2.

That says, My son, pay attention to my wisdom.

Listen well to my words of insight, that you may maintain discretion, and your lips may preserve knowledge.

Proverbs 13.1 says, a wise son hears his father's instruction, but a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.

A scoffer is a person who looks at mom and dad and is like, they are so old, so out of date, so foolish, so stupid, so whatever.
