Proud to Be Black

Probably, as John says, one of the most important songs on the album.

It's Proud to Be Black.

You know I'm proud to be Black, y'all.

And that's a fact, y'all.

And if you tried to take what's mine, I take it back, y'all.

This is not Aerosmith Walk This Way.

This is, we're here to say something.

And so the entire song is all about what it means to be proud to be Black, and it calls out a lot of crucial historical figures in the lyrics.

We ended up talking about the talent shows that we used to do at Nativity of Our Blessed Lady, which is closed now, but right there on Dye Avenue, that's where I went for grade school.

And I think, not think, the year, I think maybe sixth grade or seventh grade, I think it was sixth grade, we did, brother, you believe this, we rapped to Proud to Be Black by Run DMC.

And we won.

There's a little trophy we got.
