We did cover Propagandhi.

We covered their first one, How to Clean Everything.

If somebody would've walked in my door, put a gun to my head, and said, "Have you ever listened to Propagandhi?" I might've said no.

I realized I had a note from Manfred from Elephants and Stars.

And he was telling me, Mike, have you heard the new Propagandhi album? And I'm like, no, I haven't.

He goes, go listen to At Peace.

So I listened to At Peace.

As many of you know, I am a huge No Means No fan.

You know who else are No Means No fans? The members of Propagandhi.

Beef's band, Agassi, recently opened for Dead Bob, John Wright's new band, in Winnipeg.

I had John Wright on this podcast and I read him quotes said by members of Propagandhi about why they love No Means No to get his reactions.

The point is the connection runs deep.

In 2024, my friend Jason Lam released a book on PM Press called No Means No From Obscurity to Oblivion.

Jason and I are toying with the idea of doing something with the audio, but a lot of legwork lies ahead in order to do it properly.

We recently tried to launch a podcast about it, but we ran into a logistical hurdle that stopped us in our tracks to rethink it and reassess.

What's the note?

Well, it's talking about how Fatty is stepping on Propagandhi Chris's corner of having like prose lyrics carry over lines rhythmically so they fit.

And it's like talking about a Barry Manilow, Django, blah, blah, blah.

For a long time, I was just assuming that a Barry Manilow was like some double entendre I didn't understand, and it wasn't until I read the lyrics and I was like, oh! Oh, no, no, he's just being weird with his rhythm.

This band is a little bit of a lost project.

So this was John K. Samson's band between his stint in Propagandhi and The Weakerthans, and it was such a fascinating little piece of music.

My buddy Grant who runs Bitter Melody Records sent it to me one day.

He's like, "Have you ever heard this?" Uh, it was like kind of a lost material for a long time, and basically sonically it sounds like the middle ground between Propagandhi and The Weakerthans.

Like, it still has a little bit of the, the sound and production of some of that ...

some of those Propagandhi records, but not the same kind of music.

Musically it's probably more in common with the very first Weakerthans album.

Interestingly, though, John doesn't sing in this band.

I look forward to two years of him not saying anything racist, homophobic, or bigoted.

It is also the 25th anniversary of Propaganda canceling the bottleneck show that we were supposed to attend.

Yeah, they still owe us a show because that's how it works.

Never forget the cancellation of the Propagandhi show at the Bottleneck 25 years ago this day.

So Propagandhi, I await your announcement that you will be playing in Lawrence, Kansas.

I don't always need somebody preaching to me about anything.

Um, but, but to me, because my world was so, was so expanded by the lyrics of bands of stuff like, like earth crisis, like, um, I mean, even like Propagandhi, who those guys kind of seem like assholes.

But like, I learned a lot.

Fat Mike put everything on the line just because he fucking hated this guy.

My one complaint about this, my one complaint is the same complaint from Propagandhi.

The reason why Propagandhi and Fat Mike got into it is because Fat Mike fucking hated Bush so much and hated what he stood for and hated the Republican Party, but then was shaking hands with John Kerry.

I'm like, well, you should support John Kerry.

You should support.
