Pronghorn

[cash register sound] Super cool story coming out of Wyoming, the Cowboy State, where longtime hunter Deb Tonsager Burke recently shot a pronghorn antelope with some very unusual headgear.

Turns out this buck did not shed last year's horn sheaths, but instead grew a second set in one continuous length, as in last year's set is riding on top of this year's set, which created kind of a curling super horn on one side of the critter's head.

Pronghorn, amazing critters, have some very interesting anatomy.

Like antlered game, such as deer and elk, pronghorn shed their horns and regrow them every year.

And it is a horn, not an antler.

You know, there's opportunities to do some cool stuff that I just haven't pulled the trigger on yet, but are, you know, back in my mind as far as how I can still, you know, get out and do what I want to do.

Pronghorn are fun to hunt.

Yeah.

I shot a couple in Wyoming.

... mule deer, elk, and coyotes roam the area.

Pronghorns also cross the monument.

Uh, predators include bobcats, mountain lions, red foxes, and badgers.

Yeah, Spencer, what he's saying doesn't matter.

I did want to talk about some early season stuff, and you do hunt Kentucky early season, so you already got a buck under your belt, so I want to talk about that a little bit.

And then a couple other, you got Pronghorn coming up, and then I do want to chat about the Timber Ninja stuff.

So that's something that's super intriguing to me.

Is it the Kunai? Is that the new one?

Looks like that's going to run through the 20th.

Pronghorn, you're going to have the 20th.

That's of September, to be specific.

Pronghorn is September 21st through the 29th then.

Moose is also the 12th through the 20th of September.

So some important season dates for you.

I just like to eat them.

But, uh, I actually fucking love antelope.

Antelope, I don't know.

I think, gun to my head, this fucking age-old question that everybody asks, what's your favorite animal to hunt? And most Western hunters are going to give you the same answer.

It's either going to be elk or mule deer.

And on the last day, the last 30 minutes, ended up killing an antelope.

And then yeah, and now I have I'm headed to the Sandhills to chase goats around with my Nebraska tag.

And the beginning of October, I drew a Colorado Antelope tag.

Those b******.

Pronghorns.

Second fastest animal, huh? Well, you're looking at the fastest land animal in the world, Jabroni.

Well, Chitor is not wrong there.

Pronghorns are the second fastest, and he is the fastest animal.

I mean, he's looking a bit out of shape and getting a lot of gray hairs.

Yeah, all that junk food.
