Proline

So Kazuma Okamoto home run for tonight is my Proline pick of the day.

Uh, Oku's been unbelievable lately.

And, uh, h- his, as much as he set the record for strikeouts by a Blue Jay, his, uh, strikeout numbers over the last month have started to normalize a little bit.

That's one of the papers we wrote, was specifically on celiac disease and gluten intolerance.

And the story's pretty clear to me because again, the microbes are involved because the lactobacillus produce several different enzymes that specialize in breaking down proline.

Proline is a difficult amino acid to pry apart.

When you metabolize proteins, you know, proteins are a whole bunch of amino acids on a string.

That's the DNA code.

And the first thing you have to do is chop them up and break, break it into individual amino acids, and that process, you know, there's some enzymes that do that just fine, but we don't have the enzymes that do it for proline.

Proline is different.

It needs a specialized enzyme, and the lactobacillus provide that for the host, but they get killed off by glyphosate and then they're not providing enough of that enzyme, and then the... and so the proteins that contain a lot of proline are troubled, are, are, can't get broken down properly.

Exactly.

And then there is proline.

Proline acts as a physical kink in the chain.

It literally bends the structure, preventing everything from locking together too tightly and turning brittle.

Oh, wow.

But on top of that...

Proline is an amino acid.

It's just an amino acid that when it bonds to another amino acid, that bond has a very, very high strength.

And so it's very difficult to break those specific bonds.

That is one more than Alejandro Kirk in 2026, and that was Salvador's first stolen base since 2021.
