does tenderness so well in All of Us Strangers, that he was so tender in that.

And to imagine him putting out this powerful performance, which we know he's capable of doing, he's very thrilling and scary, it's like Moriarty in Sherlock.

To see him having the duality of having to do that on stage whilst battling this deterioration in his health, I think that is going to be not only a tearjerker, but something really quite powerful to watch.

So I cannot wait.

Well, now, to begin at the beginning...

It was in the hectic hair-raising, and I might even say the glorious day, of the great battle of wits between Sherlock Holmes and the notorious Professor Moriarty.

What you might call a real battle of the titans, eh, Doctor?

Indeed it was, Mr. Campbell.

Things had been unusually hectic for Holmes for several months.

Moriarty had been particularly active, and Holmes had had many sleepless nights.

Finally, things had calmed down a bit, and I tried to persuade him to take a badly needed holiday.

The net result being that he finally did agree to have an afternoon off and accompany me to a Turkish bar.

You still got a good sense of the nightmarish mind under all that makeup, a man in no way burdened with morals.

Doctor Who never quite let him go after that, which made sense in a Moriarty sort of way, but he was always a package deal with the Daleks.

Terry Malloy was wonderful in his three appearances later on, but it would have been nice to get him away.

Let him just be the threat on his own.

You heard me speak of Professor Moriarty.

Heard of Moriarty? [laughs] He must be about as famous among crooks as-

He's the greatest schemer of all time.

Hmm.

It can be of no use to you now.

I presume the other was Moriarty.

I mean, there are other things that I got to do.

While I was doing that, I made a show for three seasons of a show for Audible called Moriarty.

uh which was

uh a uh

kind of a twist on the charlotte holmes uh mythos where holmes is the bad guy and his nemesis moriarty is a good guy and uh so dominic monahan from lord of the rings uh was uh played moriarty and phil lamar the great voice actor was sherlock holmes And, uh, and then along the way we got, uh, Helen Mirren to play a bad guy in season two and, uh, Sir, Sir Ben Kingsley, uh, Moriarty's dad in season three.

And I directed all of those.

And so like, you know, you did that.

It may not be what your original vision was.
