Pro shop

You had to prearrange your gamble beforehand.

So it was like basically double your money and the money goes on your Pro Shop account.

So if you spend more than 100 quid in the shop every year, it just made sense to do the maximum bet.

So I started working at Orwoodley in August and I was 17.

And then tournament week, he came down to the facility and kind of took photos, signed autographs.

And then I think my last day of my internship, The superintendent, which is great, brought us up to the clubhouse and the pro shop and went in.

There's Mr. Palmer signing autographs, signing shirts and things like that.

But we got to shake his hand and took a photo with him and all that.

Your project at Capilano, you guys worked on the first T and there was a big tunnel, I believe, right? So I'd love to hear about that project and just wondered, is that that project maybe Spark moving into or starting to think about moving into construction?

Yeah, that's a great question.

So the first T tunnel project at Capilano, that whole area, the first T complex, the pro shop, the putting green, the 18 green, it is a tight area.

And before the project, it was very, very a tight area.

Not a day goes by I don't miss my days over at Berkshire Hills.

And so you pull into this, you know, public park looking entrance and then the tea shops, the pro shops right there.

And again, it's just like a little restaurant and a little pro shop and there's no like big fanfare.

It's just, it's like what you would expect at Duke or Rustic or any one of the, you know, many public golf courses that we have in this great country.

And so.

little, it's like.

Oh, sure, sure, sure.

sure yeah but like you know what i mean like what i'm going for it's not like you remember when we went to aaron hills and there's like there's like people who greet you and then they like you know obviously they take your bag for you and so it's more like a tory pines like a one of those like a tory pines or beth page or something like that yeah right um and and then you you and then just past the pro shop you look out on this fence and the entire golf course is just laid out in front of you I think you sent me a photo of that, too.

And so the Pro Shop is up on the hill.

Not, not many are gonna be sold and whatnot.

Wow.

And then obviously, uh, uh, I grew up in the back of a pro shop.

So I, I first hit a ball when I was three years of age.

Um, lived in the back of the shop, uh, and just watched what went on.

You know what? He actually slammed a hole in one.

Uh, Dick is, won a gift certificate to the pro shop, and then also another gift certificate winner was Lou.

Lou was also one that came very close, uh, to the, the last, I guess it's the last, uh, piece there where you're supposed to just hit it.

Well, you're trying to hit a hole in one, but they end up measuring it and how far it is from the hole, and that's how you win, if you're the closest.

I put them on, and I... all of a sudden, the soles start flopping off of the shoes.

[laughs] So I think at that moment is when Tim Herb came in.

I actually had to then jump in the car and drive right over to the Turf Valley Pro Shop and buy a new pair of shoes.
