This cancellation marks only the second time in two decades that this longstanding San Antonio community event has been called off, with the only other prior disruption happening during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Priscilla Aguirre at MySanAntonio.com says the move directly impacts fundraising for local charities, youth programs, and community groups that rely on the annual gathering to raise money and attract participation.

Planet K CEO Michael Kleinman expressed hope that the festival will return next year, concluding the announcement with a message of community solidarity and a call for civic participation in San Antonio ahead of the upcoming elections.
