They are, in addition to screening, pre-screening, randomizing, scheduling, doing study startup, doing ongoing maintenance, doing IRB approvals, doing vendor trainings for new studies, doing archiving, vetting a new system for one particular study.

Like there's so much going on responding to queries, responding to monitor questions, responding to PI questions, making sure PIs signing labs, making sure sub-I signing lab.
D

There's so much pulling their attention even on a minute by minute basis.
D
5:12Dan SferaHOST
Now you might say, well, the good thing we have PIs and good thing we have sub eyes.
D
5:17Dan SferaHOST
Yes.

So when I look at my PI, I realized that staying in academia to do this would be more of the kind of the admin work, doing a lot of grant writing and all sorts of these background things that I did not find motivating at all.
A

And when I talked to these commercial reps, they told me that if you're going to do a demo, you're going to fly in, you're going to set up the system, you're going to do that first couple of good runs, wrap things up and then head on to your next customer.

And so I found that really appealing and broke that window of do we just stay in academia? Do we just do R&D or maybe just do something a little different?

Cool.

And I think, you know, what you described, a lot of people may come to the point where they look at their PIs and feel like, okay, grant writing.
E
9:10Elena HofferHOST
Because many of us, I think they start a PhD because they feel like, okay, I want to stay in the lab.
E
9:15Elena HofferHOST
But when you realize, okay, you're maybe in the lab or you do that type of work while you're doing your PhD or during your postdoc.

I think we doubled the numbers after we actually heard the protocol being explained and broken down into every little nuance imaginable.
D
6:18Dan SferaHOST
And we got the PI's feedback, which we did get some prior, but nothing's the same as just your unfocused, undivided attention.
D
6:28Dan SferaHOST
Everyone's focused for at least a half an hour.
D
6:31Dan SferaHOST
The PI stayed a half an hour.
D
6:33Dan SferaHOST
The sub-I stayed an hour.
D
6:34Dan SferaHOST
And then me and the site director and the other coordinator stayed another hour.

Now, luckily for you, we have a free tool called coordinator c-o-o-r d-i-n-a-r-e dot c-o where in addition to getting free study leads and tracking where your leads are going are you in the feasibility process did you have a site selection visit scheduled is it just a warm lead is it a cold lead you can upload documents and all those things so you can keep track we have a feasibility helper on there so we have a tool where you can actually go and it will help you answer your feasibilities in case you need help and so you just go to the ctms which is free and within the ctms you have feasibility You have a lead pipeline, which is what I was using today, study startup, budget, where it will kind of generate based on the study, the budget.
