I don't remember which one.
M

It could be Prince Caspian.

But if you're not familiar, there are four British school children that get transported into a magical land called Narnia.

Anyway, with Tanner, I'm listening to Prince Caspian.
M

As a kid, this was always one of my favorites from the Narnia series.
M

As an adult, it seems simplistic and is very much that tell-don't-show in writing style, as well as this layer of unearned valor slash privilege that just grates on my nerves now.

There's another one called Prince Caspian, another one called Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

And then we go into other ones, etc.

But it sort of follows these children and their adventures in this other world called Narnia.

But I will say this, if you're going to read this entire series, the third book chronologically, the third book in my book is called Horse and His Boy.
A
15:24Andy JonesHOST
Okay.
A
15:26Andy JonesHOST
And you should not read that one between Lion, Witch, Wardrobe and Prince Caspian.
A

It's super confusing if you do it that way.

And I think that is kind of... a criticism of the Edmund character, especially in Prince Caspian, is that he kind of just doesn't have anything to do.

I think once we get to Dawn Treader, he gets a little bit more to do.

It has a lot of questionable things in how she is portrayed.

We'll probably talk.

I mean, I don't know how much it shows up in Prince Caspian.
J

I believe the 2005 or the Walden Media movies, I guess those are both Disney ones, the one that she's in.

And, yeah, so speaking of the witches, this is, I think, the third book that they come up in.
T

There's always this sort of malevolent darkness.
M
37:09Mark BradleyGUEST
Yeah, Magician's Nephew 2, yeah, 4.
M
37:10Mark BradleyGUEST
There's always a malevolent darkness kind of circling around here, and you'll see how it's typically human greed that brings her into Narnia in the beginning, and then she kind of keeps popping up because she really tends to manifest herself uh at times of great temptation so she manifests herself in Narnia as the witch to tempt Edmund to betray his family she shows up and she shows up to Prince Caspian to tempt him to kind of tap into darker magic and then she shows up to his son uh after his mother died while he's seeking revenge um so she has a tendency to pop in when things are kind of going bad and figure out a way to make them way worse.
M
38:02Mark BradleyGUEST
I think it's like in the real world.

That means that we are sinners, alienated from God by nature.
S

Are you more likely to focus on being made in the image of God or on being born in the likeness of Adam, a sinner? How might holding both of these truths together help you live a more fruitful Christian life?
