David ManteyHOST
It's like the greatest cross section of horror movies that never happens.
David ManteyHOST
I also watched Primate.
David ManteyHOST
It's a horrible movie that no person should ever subject themselves to.
David ManteyHOST
Don't watch the Evil Monkey movie.
SeanHOST
Troy is the dad, Adam.
SeanHOST
He retained fake blood on his hands throughout production of Primate.
SeanHOST
Following the completion of principal photography, Kotzner entered a restaurant believing he had removed all the artificial from his
JustinHOST
person.
LilHOST
Brain fart.
LilHOST
And tonight we're reviewing Primate from 2025.
LilHOST

I think the last two horror films that we watched was Primate.
Ryan ShawGUEST
Oh, I saw Primate.
Ryan ShawGUEST
What did you think? What is that? I thought it was okay.
Matt RishavyHOST
It's where a daughter and her dad basically have a...
Van ConnorGUEST
And it turns out that I didn't remember it that well myself.
Van ConnorGUEST
So, you know, obviously we were just thinking Killer Monkey and then Primate seemed like an obvious thing to pair it with.
Van ConnorGUEST
And now having watched the two together, clearly I was thinking of Cujo when I was talking about Monkey Shines.
Sean WilsonHOST
And I hadn't even heard of Monkey Shines as a George Romero movie, so I wasn't familiar at all.
6 MINS LATER
Van ConnorGUEST
Yes.
Van ConnorGUEST
Yes.
Van ConnorGUEST
It makes even less sense in Primate, but in this one, it's basically, hey, did you know that this university trains monkeys? That's how we made this movie, with a monkey.
Van ConnorGUEST
By the way, please don't freak out about any of the death or anything.
Louisa Carey BrownHOST
it was, um, just a sort of stretch too, but I mean, I enjoyed sort of cringing, and there is exci- excitement in it.
Louisa Carey BrownHOST
But if I compare it to something like Primate, which I watched recently, which is a similar kind of thing, you know, it's a creature-
KateGUEST
Mm-hmm
Louisa Carey BrownHOST
... feature.
Louisa Carey BrownHOST
Have you, have you seen Primate?
KateGUEST
No, I haven't seen that one yet.
KateGUEST
Yeah.
Louisa Carey BrownHOST
[laughs]
PatHOST
This is a masterpiece.
PatHOST
This is, I would say, best movie of the year I've seen so far, in that top five mix with, you know, Primate, Buddy, Digger.
PatHOST
They're, you know, it's haven't fully sold-
ClaytonHOST
You forget-
PatHOST
Obsession is this year.
PatHOST
No, Obsession's up there.
PatHOST
But I, I don't know if Obsession cracks the Buddy, Primate, Digger, you know, top, r- really tippy-top movies of, of my list.
PatHOST
Obviously-
Jacob HoltzclawHOST
And then, uh, Peter Gvozdas.
Jacob HoltzclawHOST
G-V-O-Z-D-A-S. Um, [laughs] so, so Peter, what I just said, has edited Primate, um, Parasomnia, The Home, Locked, The Boogeyman, The Free Fall, Night Books, The Conjuring, The Devil Made Me Do It, Hammer Down, Brightburn.
RyanHOST
So he's a horror editor at heart.
Jacob HoltzclawHOST
Pretty much, yeah.
Mikayla TurnerHOST
[laughs]
Max AllenHOST
... was kind of a water movie? Primate.
Bryce HansonHOST
Primate was kind of an underwater movie.
Mikayla TurnerHOST
I still haven't seen Primate, and I want to.
Max AllenHOST
It's crazy.
Max AllenHOST
That was, like, one of the last episodes we did with Sydney, I think.
Dave ParkerHOST
Okay, we got a couple 2026, or technically 2025, but not wide release until 2026.
Dave ParkerHOST
And the first one up is Primate.
Dave ParkerHOST
And I heard pretty good things about this one, and I feel like it was going to be a mixed bag for me.
Dave ParkerHOST
But overall, I actually really liked Primate.
Dave ParkerHOST
So in the very beginning of this movie, we open up with a murder because we know it's going to be a little slow.
Dave ParkerHOST
We actually see this brutal face ripoff.
Dave ParkerHOST
I like the characters.
Dave ParkerHOST
It's violent.
