Amber KennedyGUEST
6:25
We're always mad.
Amber KennedyGUEST
6:26
We come from a place of mad the minute that enters our inbox because we see, oh, need press release.
Amber KennedyGUEST
6:33
And we're like, no, you don't.
Amber KennedyGUEST
6:35
No, you don't.
Amber KennedyGUEST
7:33
Move along.
Amber KennedyGUEST
7:34
Thank you for your business.
Amber KennedyGUEST
7:35
And that doesn't help us either because now we look like we sent that press release and cotton candy and rainbows.
Amber KennedyGUEST
7:42
It all worked out.
Kristina BartoldGUEST
21:51
Cause I do, I could see how people throw a bunch of money into this.
Kristina BartoldGUEST
21:54
so much but it needs like that strategy which you've been so helpful to us on i'm being like okay like this is like you know our next move and you know us coming you being like okay we don't want to like invest like a ton of money like yeah but we're okay make some investments so like what do you think would be most bang for our buck which was a press release
Katrina OwensHOST
22:09
yeah and like so funny because no i feel like i've kind of like started a trend of people doing press releases and
Kristina BartoldGUEST
22:17
Guys, Katrina thinks she starts every trend.
Kristina BartoldGUEST
22:20
I
Katrina OwensHOST
23:29
And that is like one of the most incredible parts about PR generally is when you use that third party to like really reinforce like look at how cool this is.
Katrina OwensHOST
23:39
Yeah.
Katrina OwensHOST
23:39
And so press releases are great when you have an announcement.
Ant BagshawHOST
15:23
So we talked about you get sent a lot of stuff which is off books.
Ant BagshawHOST
15:26
You also get sent a lot of press releases.
Ant BagshawHOST
15:28
How many of them make it into stories?
Julie HareHOST
15:30
I would say almost never.
Ant BagshawHOST
15:32
Why not?
Julie HareHOST
15:33
Actually, that's not entirely true.
Julie HareHOST
15:34
Sometimes you do need press releases because they won't put up spokespeople or the spokesperson doesn't want to repeat what they've already said in the press release.
Julie HareHOST
15:41
It would be a story in its own right.
David LinHOST
37:15
I'm curious as to why and where they're working.
David LinHOST
37:18
I'm guessing data centers because if you look at news like this, new U.S. residential construction declined unexpectedly in August to one of the weakest paces since the pandemic hit.
David LinHOST
37:28
If you were to look at homebuilders stocks, for example, the ETF here from State Street is down 22% since July.
David LinHOST
37:37
If you were to look at the Census Bureau, for example, housing construction starts and completions are down.
AnpanmanHOST
28:22
But yeah, these four MNOs in Europe, the big four, they're planning to establish network infrastructure, which they're already doing, by the way, with AST.
AnpanmanHOST
28:32
And so this is a press release where they're talking about the things that they're already doing with AST.
AnpanmanHOST
28:36
And then they say that a satellite partner will be selected in the future.
AnpanmanHOST
28:40
And they also reiterate that.
AnpanmanHOST
32:43
We also know that this joint venture that was announced today from the Europeans, all three, and now four, we can definitively say four, are working with AST.
AnpanmanHOST
32:53
One thing I pointed out in a tweet earlier, I think it was back in August.
AnpanmanHOST
32:58
So AST had put out this press release saying that they were doing network integration and testing.
AnpanmanHOST
33:03
And the other player that was recently added to that list was Deutsche Telekom.
Aly HathcockHOST
9:43
Okay
Natan EdelsburgGUEST
9:43
... and it's press releases.
Natan EdelsburgGUEST
9:45
Um, press releases, you know, are very, I don't know, old school tactic.
Natan EdelsburgGUEST
9:50
They've existed for a long time, where you create a press release and you often publish it on a press release newswire.
Natan EdelsburgGUEST
9:57
Um, you know, one of the top ones that we work with is GlobeNewswire.
Natan EdelsburgGUEST
10:01
And it's shown in the last year that press releases, while it might not be as big of the pie as journalism or, or earned media, press releases are getting cited when asking about things like company information.
Natan EdelsburgGUEST
10:14
So we've seen a huge renaissance with a lot of people as part of their communication strategy who might have just posted their press release on their blog or not done one at all-
Aly HathcockHOST
10:22
Okay
Bobby CapucciHOST

Number two, defendant is liable for the media's publication of the defamatory statement.
Bobby CapucciHOST
1:05
After arguing contrary to the New York law that she is not liable for the media's publication of her own press release, defendant next argues that she is not liable for the media's publications of the defamatory statement contained within her press release if the media chose to make even the tiniest of editorial changes.
Bobby CapucciHOST
1:24
If we understand defendant's argument correctly, any omission of any language from a press release is somehow a selective partial publication for which she escapes liability.
Bobby CapucciHOST
1:36
Motion at 14.
Bobby CapucciHOST
1:37
Once again, this claim is absurd on its face.
Bobby CapucciHOST
2:36
First, there is no republication by the media as a matter of law.
Bobby CapucciHOST
2:40
Defendant issued a defamatory statement to the press and its publication, as defendant intended, is not a republication under the law as discussed above.
Bobby CapucciHOST
2:50
Second, there was no editing or paraphrasing or taking the quote out of context of the core defamatory statement in the press release.
David QuaidGUEST
14:49
... which is nothing about links.
David QuaidGUEST
14:51
You don't need a backlink here, but if you might want to get news articles, you might wanna do press releases.
David QuaidGUEST
14:56
You may wanna build up wherever the most authoritative domains about your name and sites discussing your name or potential queries that will bring up your name.
David QuaidGUEST
15:05
And so-

David QuaidGUEST

I'll leave it up to the audience, but I'm pretty sure the audience is going to say, "Well, actually, I've been doing ORM because I'm in SEO and I do ORM at my SEO agency." And we do that by making sure the pages we prefer come up in rankings.
David QuaidGUEST
32:40
And if you look at GEO and the reason that we rank in GEO, it's because we made our page outrank the other pages.
David QuaidGUEST
32:46
And so I've been running competition or participating in competition called The King of E- AEO, where we've been doing press releases and SEO and all those other good things that are a part of it.
David QuaidGUEST
32:56
I actually just did a podcast last Friday about how press, press releases work for SEO, and that if you do a press release, for example, that just focuses on your brand and doesn't rank for anything, you haven't done anything good.
Pat AhernHOST
17:49
Interesting, interesting.
Pat AhernHOST
17:52
Now, along those lines, one of the questions that I'll get from clients on a regular basis is just, are press releases worth it? You know, we're at the tail end of 2026 now.
Pat AhernHOST
18:00
What's your take? Is it a good investment to do a press release for like a big trend campaign like this?
James RoachGUEST
18:07
It really depends.
James RoachGUEST
18:43
It's a press release campaign almost.
James RoachGUEST
18:44
But it's certainly not dead.
James RoachGUEST
18:45
It just depends on what you're trying to get across because also you might produce a bit of content which sits on site as well and has everything in it and it just actually doesn't need a press release because that asset page tells everything it needs to as well so it really does depend i know that's not a great answer but it depends on on the campaign and whether you feel like a press release is needed alongside the email alongside the asset or not really because yeah it's not a hard and fast rule but some some places you know we will find they actually might just copy and paste literally the press release as their story almost so it's a strange one but i don't think it's a hard and fast rule that you always have to have a press release all that press releases are dead it really does case by case basis as to whether does it add value i think that's probably the best way of putting it does it add value if it doesn't add value then potentially leave it out.
Pat AhernHOST
19:43
Absolutely.
John FeneckGUEST
13:29
And by critical minerals, I have a, a, a bias towards defense metals.
John FeneckGUEST
13:33
I spoke at Beaver Creek a couple of weeks ago on defense metals, and I threw up a bunch of public news, David, not like stuff I'm coming up with on my own, of here's a timeline of January 1st, 2025, you know, right before Trump's EO in March of 2025, talking about critical minerals in the US and the importance of them.
John FeneckGUEST
13:53
And here it is all the way to today, and I did a, a th- a seven-quarter look, you know, almost two years of the back and forth between China and the US, and it's hilarious.
John FeneckGUEST
14:02
I'll give you an example.

They have solar applications.
John FeneckGUEST
19:44
They have defense applications through their building of drones.
John FeneckGUEST
19:47
So that's new news since you and I sat down last.
John FeneckGUEST
19:50
There was a competitor two weeks ago called Dragonfly.
