WillHOST
26:33
And the-- And so I was supposed to start on Thursday morning, and Tuesday afternoon, Tuesday night rolls around, and the higher summit forecast for Thursday, um...
WillHOST
26:46
Well, the higher summit forecast for Thursday morning looked all right, but the problem was we were gonna be going over the Presidentials, uh, Thursday night, and the, uh, the higher summit forecast for Thursday night was, like, zero visibility, temps in the high 20s, uh, wind up to, like, it was like 60 to 70 miles an hour with 85 mile an hour gusts, uh, ice down to like 4,000 feet, uh, accumulating and, um, and unfortunately, I, like, didn't-- I couldn't, like, wiggle the start at all.
WillHOST
27:20
It was either start Thursday morning or nothing.
WillHOST
27:23
I suppose I could have, like, flipped the direction and gone northbound, but again, like, I had pacers coming out and people were coming out from, you know, the places they lived, and so it, it w- like, it was too much of a logistical disaster to, to change the plan, um, you know, like a day in advance.
Cassidy CarrollGUEST
15:31
Um, I helped support, uh, John Kelly through, and so I've rucked it as well, and I knew that wouldn't be a problem in the dark.
Cassidy CarrollGUEST
15:41
I hate being in Alpine in the dark, and so that perfectly aligned me to be in the Presidentials the entire time in the light, and then it perfectly aligned me to be on the Lafayette, uh, Ridgeline perfectly in the light.
Cassidy CarrollGUEST
15:58
So that was my two main concerns, those long alpine zones, which is why I started at 1:20 AM.
speaker_0HOST
16:07
Nice.
LeahGUEST
19:25
Yeah.
LeahGUEST
19:25
I mean, doing 10 miles to the Presidentials or something, you know, almost took all day.
LeahGUEST
19:30
[laughs]
Steve AdamsHOST
19:31
Yeah, I know.
Doug DanielsGUEST
16:36
I love if you're familiar with there's.
Doug DanielsGUEST
16:41
the wing ding trail which is kind of off and goes down into the sun bowl that's one of my favorite places to just kind of hang out and and look at the lake because it's a different view than the one that's always the famous one that gets pictures and all that so where our wedding venue is is uh the top of skyway ledges um but that that wing ding view is also just beautiful right just a slightly different You can look out, and you see the lake, and you see Mountain View Lake, and you can look out towards, on a beautiful day, on a clear day, you can see all the way out to Mount Washington, Presidential Range.
Doug DanielsGUEST
17:14
And it's just gorgeous.
Steve SmithHOST
17:16
Do you know if anybody went up to the top of Mount Sunapee on September 11th, and could they see Mount? For the lights.
AndrewHOST
3:34
You weren't really feeling that great, but you were kind of going out easy, like, maybe getting into it.
AndrewHOST
3:38
Same thing on the Prezi.
AndrewHOST
3:38
Like, you were saying, like, going up to Osgoode, like, you didn't feel awesome, but you were kind of just getting through it.
AndrewHOST
3:45
What do you, I don't know, looking back, do you think, like, What do you attribute those sections being, like, kind of, like, meh for you? Were you nervous? Were you...
Stieg BertramGUEST
4:09
Yeah.
Stieg BertramGUEST
4:10
But then I got to 302 and I was still feeling good.
Stieg BertramGUEST
4:12
So, yeah, that whole, like, Prezi and...
Stieg BertramGUEST
4:14
Mariah, I wasn't feeling the best.
Moyra MajorHOST
7:16
I'm in
Andrea SarnikGUEST
7:16
the Presidential Mountains.
Andrea SarnikGUEST
7:18
Oh,
Moyra MajorHOST
7:18
fancy.
MikeHOST
9:32
Pine Mountain probably for sunrise as well, but for sunset for sure.
NickHOST
9:36
yeah um depending the time of year i don't know if sunset might be blocked by the presidential range if you're on in face i know like this time of year in the fall i think you'd be good it would kind of be to the side of mount madison um but pine mountain for sure has much more of an open view west um but either way you're going to get really nice color from sunset and kind of as mike mentioned too they're both relatively um imps definitely a pretty good climb pines a little bit more moderate but they are very good like if you want to take off an hour before sunset or whatever like and you want to haul it up there, like they're really good hikes for sunset.
MikeHOST
10:08
Yeah.
MikeHOST
10:08
You can

NickHOST

and some of the steep sort of ridges that rise up out of that part of the ravine.
NickHOST
15:52
You get like you get kind of a feel for how deep the Great Gulf actually goes into the presidential range and how remote it is, which is really interesting.
MikeHOST
16:01
Right.
Patrick RichardsonHOST
17:12
know maybe that's a weird question but
Rebecca CuffGUEST
17:14
well no i have one of my most watched videos is um hut to hut in the white mountains I did one of my early videos where we hike hut to hut through the presidential range for most of it.
Rebecca CuffGUEST
17:30
And then I did a how-to one.
Rebecca CuffGUEST
17:32
And that how-to video still gets watched.

1 HR 7 MINS LATER

Patrick RichardsonHOST
84:12
Question number one.
Patrick RichardsonHOST
84:13
What's the most beautiful place you've ever backpacked?
Rebecca CuffGUEST
84:18
Yeah, that has to be the White Mountains, the Presidential Range, probably the most beautiful place I've backpacked.
Rebecca CuffGUEST
84:26
I did do a long like 14 mile day hike in Zion National Park on their Western Trail.
Mark BreenHOST
0:42
There could be a shower late in the day in the St. Lawrence Valley and northern Adirondacks.
Mark BreenHOST
0:47
For the mountains today, hikers will find numerous clouds across the mountains in and out over the Presidential Range in New Hampshire, limited breaks of sun mostly south.
Mark BreenHOST
0:56
There'll be a light northerly wind becoming more westerly and temperatures will be warming a few to several degrees.
Mark BreenHOST
1:02
Tomorrow features more sunshine but also strengthening southwest winds gusting over 35 mph and temperatures warming several more degrees.
AndrewHOST
32:33
So I didn't know why it was working, but I have a few theories.
AndrewHOST
32:36
And this is when the theory started kind of popping up on the Prezi section, old Jackson road.
AndrewHOST
32:41
Um, The chlorine in the water, potentially.
AndrewHOST
32:44
By the end of the effort, I was filtering every water, no matter whether I got it from a stream or a spigot at a hut.

7 MINS LATER

AndrewHOST
39:41
Like, the Osgoode Trail is a difficult climb, but I was kind of just, like, getting in the zone, and... dealing with the stomach but but feeling okay uh move up tag madison and it wasn't super windy up there which is nice it was pretty cold so i had my extra layer on but it was you know something where i was just keep moving and nothing that i was kind of worried about i don't know exactly what time i got up to madison but um And I don't even know what my goal time was to get up to Washington, but it was early in the day.
AndrewHOST
40:10
It was maybe like 3, 4, 5-ish because I knew it didn't get dark until after Washington.
AndrewHOST
40:16
So up in the northern Prezis, you know, refill that Madison Hut water.
AndrewHOST
40:21
I grabbed more water at the bridge down at the base of the Osgoode climb as well.
