Present continuous

Hi and welcome back to podcasts with English for French.

I'm Alison and today we are going to be revising both present simple and present continuous and comparing their use in the English language.

Until now you might have learned that the present simple is just for things you always do.

and the present continuous is just for what is happening right now.

Well, we are going to go further with that today.

English speakers use these two tenses to express lots of different actions and time notions, from permanent truths and background facts to temporary life chapters and changing trends.

Generally, time phrases go at the end of the sentence.

Single adverbs go before the main verb except after the verb to be.
