Last meeting we talked about different ways of opening into our inherent nature as being non-dual and whole.

It's all one, as Maharaji said again and again.

In certain traditions, there is a great emphasis on I am awareness, I am that.

In other traditions, it's I am love with a capital L. Ram Dass crunched these two together and said, I am loving awareness.

What I find most appealing to me, and I'm not trying to sell it, if you're into Dzogchen, if you're into Dvaita Vedanta, they're wonderful paths, but can we begin to recognize our nature through the world, through the body, through sensation, through devotion, through beauty, through the energy of life itself? So instead of saying, not this, not this, In a way, it's the great death, that everything is not that.

Now, in Tantra, Kashmiri Shaivite Tantra in particular, it's, and this, and this, everything is that.

It's the great rebirth, that everything we experience is Maharaji, is God, is the Mother.

And for me, this path then can bring a lot of tenderness, a lot of kindness, a lot of softness, which for me, having this background as a scientist is a very useful softening.

Now, I'm talking very far out talk, and I want to make clear where the game goes, because I think if we have the highest appreciation of what it is about, we can sort of guide our course a little bit in that direction, because it's so easy to get lost in the drama of everyday life.

A girl who was with my Guru Maharaji was having trouble with a rather fickle boyfriend.

Maharaji said to her, Don't you realize your only friend is God? Now, I realize that a lot of you, when I say the word God, wince or tighten, not all of you, In fact, not even half of you, but there are some of you for whom the word God is a real no-no.

It comes out of your childhood and a lot of unpleasant experiences you've had with that concept.

It also comes out of your fear that you're going to get caught in dualism, in worshipping something external to yourself.
