Predestination

Not saying it's a bad thing, [laughs] just saying weird way to sell it.

It is in fact the latest from German-Australian filmmakers, the Spirig brothers, whose CV includes the sci-fi thriller Predestination, the Saw film Jigsaw, which I quite liked, and the biographical horror movie Winchester, for which you interviewed Helen Mirren.

Oh, yes, I remember.

She came into the studio.

Oh, did it, did it burn your brain? Did it?

I was not ready for what happened because I wasn't ready for spoilers for Predestination.

But Ethan Hawke and what's the actress's name? Sarah Snook.

Sarah Snook are the same person, which would have been fine.

They are an Australian couple.

They're identical twins, and they're probably best known for a couple of Australian movies, Predestination, which introduced the world to Sarah Snook, and Daybreakers, a vampire movie which had Ethan Hawke in it.

And they're very, very good directors.

They didn't create the idea behind this.

The guys who did... a movie I'll always take a chance to throw out there.

What's it called? Is that what it's called? Predestination? I

think so, yeah.

The Sarah Stook movie, Predestination.

Ethan Hawke is also in it.

Ethan Hawke's in all their good stuff.

Oh,

Predestination.

Oh, that movie is awesome.

So I like it, but they're like, I don't, I think the concept is great.

We've been, we've been lucky that we adapted one of our favorite short stories into a film.

Um, it was called, uh, All You Zombies, that we turned into Predestination.

Um, and we were really thrilled to do that.

That was, like, one of those things where we, um, we said, "One day we'll adapt this.

Krog Gaming, uh, "Brent Spiner, uh, from Data, has legendary fear of heights."

Well, he's probably not gonna watch this movie, I'm gonna be honest.

And then Krog Gaming comes back, "Oh my God, I hated Predestination.

Felt intelligence insulted the entire way through.

Production.

Predestination.

Probably the best Heinlein film done to date.

I don't...

worked really well.

But it had the effect of...

the ending in a way that was really interesting if you set the ending of All You Zombies against the ending of Predestination and for those of you who haven't seen the film I'm going to spoil it here because at the end of All You Zombies he goes into his retirement and he's sort of the main character is sort of left on his own the only person in the world he knows is real is himself and he's surrounded by philosophical zombies And it ends with a monologue where he says, I miss you all terribly.

And he's kind of, I wish other people existed because I'm so lonely.
