Predators

He's a weird guy.

Yeah, I had watched the Predators doc like the day before because I never watched To Catch a Predator.

And all I knew of it was like people really did not like Chris Hansen now, but I didn't know anything about it.

And then watching the Predators doc obviously gave me a lot more information.

Also made me think of Pipe Rock Theory by Conor O'Malley a lot of the time.

Yeah.

But it was funny watching Predators and seeing, like, the real footage of the guy who killed himself and then seeing the primetime version of it, which is obviously, like, very dramatized to a different extent.

Not like a small house daytime.

It is about takes place in 2006 there when to correct to catch a predator came on television.

um about its kind of rise to prominence there a little bit of its influence in cultural society there have chris hansen there was on a mission uh to be one of the kind of the biggest investigative journalists out there and he was going to use the catch a predator show to do that there and how this show ended up with their process was a little bit of how they ended up catching these people there um on the show so you see a little bit a little bit of that in this um And I've heard from people, if you want a more in-depth look on the Catch a Predator, the series, you should check out the documentary Predators, which is on Hulu there.

Not the one with Adrian Brody, not that movie, but the one, look for the documentary there of it.

And that does a much more in-depth look at the whole kind of Catch a Predator show and all the workings behind it.

And so I feel, I feel like I'm-

Wow.

The first time I saw it, I watched Prime Time, and then I watched David Osit's documentary from 2025 called Predators.

Which I did too.

Yep.

Let's catch us a predator.

With Dateline NBC.

But I would say that Predators really pissed me off, made me feel sick at my stomach, and I went to bed miserable.

Predators is an awesome movie, really loved it.

Ooh, interesting.

Have you guys seen the documentary Predators that came out last year? No.

Not at

all.

Yeah, so it came out last year by documentary filmmaker David Ossett, and...

Obviously, it's in a similar vein of this movie where it really covers the rise and fall of this show, right? To catch a predator.

And namely, it's talking about like, you know, this fairly obvious tension of bad people doing good things for the wrong reasons, right? You know, this ethical minefield that is public vigilante justice and turning trauma into spectacle for ratings and consumption, right? So obviously the stupid portion of the discourse is that, why are we making Chris Hansen, who catches pedophiles, the bad guy? So I think that's incredibly dumb, and I actually think this kind of ambiguity is definitely very, very interesting, and that's something that the Predators documentary captures very, very well.

And, you know, a lot of critics and writers I respect are also a little disappointed in the movie.

... where I went and watched Prime Time, and then I came home and I watched the Predators documentary.

For sure, yeah.

Um, About to Catch a Predator.

I, I think I gave Prime Time a four.

Mm-hmm.

And then I gave Predators a three and a half.

Okay.

I did, and I did not like it.

I think I told you about it, maybe.

Yes.

And so then there's also, like, the spinoffs that they cover in Predators and whatever.

So then he, he's meeting apparently with Robert Pattinson and Robert Pattinson's producing partner to talk about some documentary.

So people have been trying to get to the bottom of this guy for a while.

There was even a documentary that came out last year called Predators, I think.

Did you hear about this, Chris?

I did.

'Cause you said you had heard about the documentary maybe that you hadn't seen.

Well, Predators is, like, the documentary of this exact same story, but it's told with the real Chris Hansen-

... and it's actually got the real actors in it.
