That is.

Like a lot of other small body poultry that have been selected for egg laying, they do not often go broody.

But I've heard you complain a lot that your ducks have gone broody.

My ducks have gone broody like crazy.

They eat garden pests.

They fertilize on the go.

And they make, my word, enchanting additions to a backyard poultry flock.

Nothing makes me happier than to sit with my geese and watch the runners.

Not just in poultry but other species, people have started to look at obviously the, the gut-brain axis.

Um, because the vagus nerve, things that happen in the gut send signals up to the brain and then can affect your brain.

So we don't necessarily need to have the crossover between that because the blood-brain barrier stops most of the things going across it, so now...

Can you kind of introduce us into what, um, what that pathway looks like and what the potential benefits could be?

Yeah.

So not just in poultry but other species, people have started to look at obviously the, the gut-brain axis.

Um, because the vagus nerve, things that happen in the gut send signals up to the brain and then can affect your brain.

So we don't necessarily need to have the crossover between that because the blood-brain barrier stops most of the things going across it, so now...

These are very lean, tall and lean birds.

And they were also heavily featured in the earliest poultry shows in both the UK and the US.

They did appear in the first printing of the APA Standard of Perfection in 1874.

We do not know the exact origins of these chickens.

That was bred for the show ring.

I mean, that's really the only reason.

So the early poultry historians, and even the American Poultry Association Standard of Perfection warn strongly against any more breeding to exaggerate the white face and earlobes of the Spanish.

All of these sources mentioned repeatedly that they believe that this breed has suffered as a result of excessive breeding for the white facial features.
