But, you know, Robert knew the potential that Sauvignon Blanc had.

traveled in the old worlds and tasted the great wines of the Loire and really fell in love with Pouilly Fumé and came up with the name Fumé Blanc in Napa to kind of differentiate the dry, sophisticated, complex, really food-friendly wine that we were making at Robert Mondavi Winery to let people know that this was something different to look forward to and that Sauvignon Blanc could really be beautiful and exciting and vibrant.

So we've kind of taken a page from my grandfather.

My cousins and I were, I think, in the same way that Robert was maybe a little bit unenamored with the prevailing California style in the 60s, my cousins and I, I think we really gravitate towards a style of Sauvignon Blanc that is really vibrant, really mineral driven, really exciting and fresh and food friendly and complex and age worthy.
