This is like PostSecret, if you're old enough to know what that is.

When I was a teenager, PostSecret was a thing, and apparently it still lives on, where mostly depressed teenagers would decorate a postcard with an unsayable sentence and mail it in to be published anonymously.

There's a lot of people who work in climate who tell me things in private or maybe just in small groups after the conference has ended at the bar afterwards, things that deserve to be said in the sober light of day.

They really just cannot be said.

Yeah, yeah.

Oh, someone said it was actually called PostSecret.

PostSecret.com. Huh.

I would spend so much time on there.

So, um, a friend of mine who is a writer, Brigid Kemmerer, texted me one night.

She texted me a postcard from, uh, this site called PostSecret.

Um, actually this past week I just like stumbled upon PostSecret on Instagram, which was-

... like such a blast from the past because I was obsessed with PostSecret when I was in like middle school and high school especially.

For anyone who doesn't know what PostSecret is, it started in 2004.

This guy just started this like community project of just like-

But they have an Instagram now, which I was like, "Oh my God, it's like, not only is it still alive and going," but, like, they have, like, other social media too, but it's, like, thankfully still the same format where it's just, like, the posted secrets, and they're all handwritten.

Do you know right now that I'm curating another podcast? It's called Climate Workers Anonymous.

I'm an elder millennial, so I have strong memories of PostSecret, where people would decorate postcards and write an unsayable truth.

that they wanted to share with the world without attribution and mail it in.

And I started a new thing called Climate Workers Anonymous to allow people to share things about working in climate that they are finding difficult to say, whether they are too naive and beautiful and end up feeling a bit maudlin or purple to share in mixed company, or whether they're cynical and experiences of disappointment and hypocrisy about working in climate and lots of things in between.
