PostHog
At PostHog, we're working to increase the number of successful products in the world. Until now, tools for building products have been fragmented. Product analytics, heatmaps, session recording, web analytics, feature flags, and A/B testing are all helpful, but no one wants to buy, send data to, and integrate multiple products. PostHog offers these tools (and more) in an integrated, open source platform which can be hosted in either the US or EU. Both versions are SOC2 certified, GDPR-ready, and HIPAA compliant. We started PostHog during Y Combinator's W20 cohort and had the most successful B2B software launch on Hacker News since 2012 - with a product that was just 4 weeks old. With over 100,000 users, we're default alive, growing 97% through word of mouth, and we are in the top 0.01% most popular repos on GitHub.www.posthog.com

How To Stand Out In A World Of AI Designs
A
42:37Alex DanilowiczGUEST
One more thing that I think is great is actually just how long this landing page is.
A
42:41Alex DanilowiczGUEST
I learned this from the PostHog guys, actually.
A
42:43Alex DanilowiczGUEST
So the PostHog folks had a massive footer to communicate that they were... you know, a big company, right? And so I always encourage folks to think about, like, what is kind of the meta thing that's being communicated? And just by the sheer fact that it's a really long landing page, I think, oh, this company's been around
A

a while.
A
43:01Aaron EpsteinHOST
Yeah, it does a good job of spacing down the page, calling out the main points that it wants to hit on, trying to build trust.
Building what's next (Interview)

So for a moment, I thought about that idea because...
Z

I take a lot of inspiration in terms of what the connections that other products were able to do, right? So to me, PostHog is brilliant because they saw something that no one saw.
Z
48:52Zeno RochaGUEST
Like I was using Mixpanel and those tools forever, right? Like Amplitude, like for product analytics.
Z
49:00Zeno RochaGUEST
Never I thought about putting feature flags and product analytics in the same product.

I do hate the token maxing strategy, but I love the... rethink what you're doing strategy and see where ai fits into that right um and i i'm kind of like obsessed with the whole loops uh engineering or factory engineering thing right now um and i'm building like right now i haven't even shared that with the team yet but i'm building some of those loops that i i feel like uh are closed loops so there's one that i built that I'm using co-work to do that, where it goes to all the downvotes on our in-app agent.
Z
109:53Zeno RochaGUEST
It looks at those on PostHog, so it uses the PostHog MCP.
Z
109:57Zeno RochaGUEST
Then it grabs that event, it looks at the whole session of the user, and then based on the whole session of the user, it sends a draft to PR.

Claude Code for Growth: Complete Masterclass with James McAulay
J
9:32James McAulayGUEST
And so at the end of every month, Claude pulls data from all the tools that matter.
J
9:36James McAulayGUEST
For me, it's Stripe, PostHog, Xero, Atio, and basically sort of ladders this up and says like, did you hit the OKRs? And like, are we on track for the mission this year? And helps me sort of like plan the following month.
J
9:51James McAulayGUEST
But then week to week, I'm also doing like a Friday retro.
J
9:54James McAulayGUEST
And I'm not joking.
39 MINS LATER
J
48:26James McAulayGUEST
We're waiting for our test.
J
48:27James McAulayGUEST
So far, our test isn't quite working as we wanted it to, but it's still got loads of time left.
J
48:33James McAulayGUEST
So yeah, like PostHog plus Cloud Code is to me just like a growth person's dream.
J
48:39James McAulayGUEST
I also think, you know, if you're a growth person, try to get, try, try, try to get at least read only access to your company, like get repo, like your team might not let you ship stuff, but if your agent can see all the event definitions in post hog, then it can basically sort of help you measure absolutely anything.
POD 72 - What Does a Webflow Agency Sell Now? - Stephen Wise
S
23:08Stephen WiseGUEST
If they're trying to just keep things super siloed, people want to go into other interfaces less and less.
S
23:14Stephen WiseGUEST
So for example, on a lot of our, well, pretty much every project where we focus on the growth side of things, so helping improve SEO, improving AO and kind of increasing conversion rate, we'll use PostHog pretty much every time.
S
23:26Stephen WiseGUEST
But I do not look in PostHog.
S
23:28Stephen WiseGUEST
I use the PostHog MCP to pull in everything and get all that data from there.
S
23:33Stephen WiseGUEST
And like, I will look in PostHog when I need to go to user sessions and watch how people are utilizing the site.
S
23:39Stephen WiseGUEST
But in general, I'm not using PostHog dashboards because I want it to come into my tools.
S
23:44Stephen WiseGUEST
I want it to come into the context of where I'm doing my work.
S
23:47Stephen WiseGUEST
That is one of the biggest things, I think, is if a company is very... anti-integrating with anything else.
How I Built It: $12K/Month Micro SaaS | Starter Story
D

I use Google Keyword Planner for predicting volumes for keywords when I want to write some content.
D
12:36Dmytro KrasunGUEST
I use, uh, PostHog Analytics for product, like, you know, for building funnels and if I see somebody paid for, for the product, I want to know from which marketing channel they came.
D
12:46Dmytro KrasunGUEST
Yes.
D
12:46Dmytro KrasunGUEST
I use PostHog for that.
D
12:48Dmytro KrasunGUEST
And then I use Crisp Chat for live chat support and, uh, answering, uh, quick questions to customers.
D
12:53Dmytro KrasunGUEST
I have, like, my phone attached to it, and if I see a message, I try to answer immediately to it, and if I can solve it, I also try to solve it immediately.
Burning $8M on Open Source, Hitting $100M ARR and the $250 Billion Market | Harjot, CodeRabbit
H
8:40HarjotGUEST
Even Linear famously saying issue systems are dead, which we clearly see.
H
8:43HarjotGUEST
Now you are limited by imagination and we can go from idea to code, which means that not just developers, product managers, UX designers, and even tools like Datadog, Linear, Notion, PostHog, they are all becoming coding agent companies.
H
8:58HarjotGUEST
And what that means for the developer is like, they're not even choosing what to build.
H
9:05HarjotGUEST
Most of these background agents, autonomous agents are now taking off.
Track What You Can, Let Go of the Rest: Dana DiTomaso on Attribution After GA4
D
4:16Dana DiTomasoGUEST
So I have a blog post that I'll share, you can put in the show notes, about the differences between GA4, Matomo, and Plausible that I think will really help marketers understand that there's no magic tool out there that's gonna fix this.
D
4:26Dana DiTomasoGUEST
PostHog, for example, runs lots of ads around have better analytics.
D
4:29Dana DiTomasoGUEST
Yeah, you can track lots of things, but it's still not gonna make up for the fact that some people don't wanna be tracked or can't be tracked because of legislative requirements, and there's really nothing you can do about that.
D
4:40Dana DiTomasoGUEST
If they say no to being tracked, you can't track them, end of story.

I was hoping that you could maybe walk us through what some of those services are doing.
M
28:31MichaelHOST
I think the ones I noticed of, of, uh, interest to me were PostHog, Ensure, and Fingerprint.com.
M
28:38MichaelHOST
I have to assume those are probably playing a role in, uh, the fraud detection systems?
E
28:42EdGUEST
Uh, yes.
