When, when you first said Possession, Marquita, I thought for a second you were talking about the film Possession.

I haven't seen it yet.

I highly recommend it.

But, uh, [laughs] but that's also interestingly, um, Possession is a film that features dual roles.

Oh, gotcha.

So we are here to talk about Possession, directed by Andrzej Zulawski.

Possession is a film about love and loss.

When Mark returns home from his spying day job after a long time away, he finds his wife Anna wanting a divorce.

also like you mentioned Obsession.

People were mentioning Possession, the 70s film that we tackled on.

Was it 80s? It was 80s.

80s.

Yeah.

So Possession has this amazing scene in it where the woman is in a subway station.

I mean, it is a very visceral movie if you haven't seen it.

We have done a podcast on it if you're listening and you want to go check it out.

But we're still seeing it from the opposite perspective.

And it would be interesting if we saw this type of story that was being told from the victim's perspective, which is unfortunately what Nikki is in this film.

Maybe that's why the movie Possession is so good.

Maybe.

So we're going to spoil away.

So if you're not familiar with Possession, let's just say it's a new bar for freak out scenes.

It's arguably the most infamous, unhinged, unforgettable scenes that you can think of, especially a few in cinema history that we're going to be talking about today.

And arguably the most toxic breakup in all of film.

Alicia, how did you first come across Possession?

I think it was that subway scene.

I think I had known about that just like hearing about it from different people because it was so infamous.

I think it's really, it's like, it has repeat value in my mind, but I'm also like, I love horror and weird shit.

I watched it after he died because I just recently rewatched Jurassic Park.

And I guess my other favorite film of his was Possession, which I love, but is deeply stressful and disturbing.

So The Dish is about some...

Australian fellas who are responsible for the dish that is transmitting vital signals when NASA reached the other side of the earth.

The things that actually scare me are things that, like, I could imagine happening.

Um, and stuff like Possession, The Walking Dead, that kind of stuff, it's not, it just doesn't s- it's, it's just not necessarily for me, right?

Mm.

But I will say Patrick Wilson is phenomenal.
