His goal was to disprove the existence of past lives, so it's kind of hilarious that he went on to become kind of famous for his claims of reincarnation.

He, as he mentioned earlier in that quote, spent two years researching.

In Portrait of a Past Life: I'm Skeptic, he goes into great detail about exactly what that research looked like, what it took for him pre-internet to like try to find everything he needed.
