Portland Pilots

One thing that I liked that you touched on is just playing every single ball.

And one of the things that Portland that we always talked about is let's say we were on defense and someone hit a ball that was 10 feet to our right or to our left.

And we like took a step and then kind of just let it go.

Our coaches always be like, if you dove, do you think you could have got that? And then you like kind of think for a second and then they say, well, we'll never know.

And, um, I've been in Portland since 2002.

And I'll say that the, the real explosion happened when the Portland Pilots won their first national championship with Christine Sinclair under coach Clive Charles, um, in 2002.

They won it again in 2005 with Megan Rapinoe on that roster, uh, and also Christine Sinclair.

Um, and afterwards it was always shocking to me, afterwards they had a, like a ticker tape parade in Portland for a women's soccer team.

There's so much here that, to offer for women's sports.

There are a few things, though, that you guys did not mention, which include the two-time National Championship winning University of Portland Pilots, which is the collegiate home to many soccer greats like Shannon McMillan, Tiffany Milbrett, Megan Rapinoe, and Christine Sinclair.

Um, and of course, you can't forget our brand new shiny USL team, the Portland Cherry Bombs.

And so everything here is literally coming up roses in the Rose City when it comes to women's sports.
