Girls volleyball is off to a great start.

They had their first loss of the season last night against Portage Northern.

So, yeah, a lot of exciting things happening this fall in sports.

In boys' tennis, Berrien Springs defeated Buchanan in 6-2.

Tonight's stage of volleyball visits Portage Northern, and Mattawan travels to Lakeshore, both at 6-30.

River Valley plays at Arlington Lake at 6, Covert visits Michigan Lutheran at 5-30, and Benton Harbor travels to Countryside Academy at 5 o'clock.

Boys Soccer Tonight, Bridgman is at South Haven, Otsego is at Niles, Duwajek visits Brandywine, and New Buffalo is at Michigan Lutheran.

Portage Central is at their

rival, Portage Northern, Portage Central.

has moved up to Division I. Portage Northern actually picked up a victory during the week without playing a ball game.

First team they played in Caledonia had to forfeit their win against Portage Northern, so the Huskies are now one and one.

Decatur's at Saugatuck.

South Haven, which got shut out last week, is at Schoolcraft.

Loy and Oryx is at 2-0.

Those are kind of the surprises.

As Lakeshore overcomes the Central 2-0, Buchanan beat Michigan Lutheran 5-2 and South Haven defeated Niles 6-1.

In boys tennis, St. Joe swept Portage Northern 8-0.

In volleyball, Lakeshore swept Buchanan.

Our Lady of the Lake swept Barron Springs.

But again, a lot of it was self-inflicted.

And so when I came out and said Mona Shores is the best team in Muskegon right now, which credit to them, 33-0 win over Portage Northern.

Again, not a world beater of a program, but still a good win for them, right? when I said that people got really upset and listen, I'm not talking historically here.

I'm just talking this year, some questions at quarterback, some critical turnovers, Jackson.

Yeah.

And usually, like we had the shootout with Portage Northern a couple years ago where it was like a video game and, you know, we both had 75 to 90 plays somewhere in that neighborhood, you know, versus now.

I don't think I've ever been in a game where one team had 84 and the other team had 45 and the game was a one-point game.

If you're going to have that kind of... discrepancy typically that's a dominating performance by the one team and to have a three score lead with that being similar and even ten possession all those things was just crazy out of whack and the big play helped us but at the end of the day we couldn't make the little play that needed to just get a first down at times and You know, we were chunking, I think, you know, one of the last drives we had the ball, you know, trying to just go back up and run out the clock, and we were chunking.

Man, he ate there one night.
