Port

So this is the little bit bigger picture.

As a medical director of my unit, for today, we were short of the port-a-cath needle.

Port-a-cath is an essential device for children to receive chemotherapy.

So we did not have needles for these children.

So we found a solution today.

Um, but they gave me one month in between surgery and starting chemo.

Um, about a week before chemo, I had another surgery to place what's called a Port-a-Cath, and it went in right under my left collarbone.

And they thread it directly into a vein so that it gives them good access, um, to be able to administer the chemo that's in a safe way.

And so we did that, and then the week later, I started chemotherapy.
