Port Everglades

Coast Guard crews, I guess it's hard to fathom the amount of money.

They offloaded $57 million worth of illegal drugs in Port Everglades on Monday.

Where are

the drugs coming from? I thought we eradicated that from Venezuela.

They're catching them in the water.

So, I mean, unless you can get the guys to talk.

But they offloaded approximately 7,250 pounds of cocaine and 2,082 pounds of marijuana Monday at Port Everglades.

They said it was two separate interactions, two separate people, two separate boats.

And, and then the, you know, the obsession with the billfish actually probably started in Florida with, uh, the sails and, uh, the swordfish, you know, I used back then there really wasn't anybody doing the daytime sword fishing out of there.

So I would do nighttime swordfish drops off like Port Everglades and stuff like that, or down Miami way.

And, um, That was fun.

I thought it was cool.

At Port Canaveral they wave to you with the Mickey hands.

Do they do that at Port Everglade? Do you guys know?

You know, I don't recall seeing a member out there with the Mickey hands waving.

I don't, I don't think we ever looked.

Well, we'll sweat that out when we get there.

And Fort Everglades is customs.

[laughs] It's a breeze.

We ain't buying nothing.

We've all cleared immigration now, and all that remains to do is go through customs, which we'll have to do when we arrive at Fort Everglades, Florida.

Now, remember, you may bring in duty-free one quart of liquor, which you'll no doubt be buying today.

And so, you know, I had a little bit of exposure to that.

And so essentially growing up, like my ceiling was just at a minimum, just finishing high school and going to work at the Port Everglades or becoming a preacher.

You know, I knew I wasn't going to be in the NBA, right? Like I knew, I think by high school, I was pretty like, okay, yeah, that's not going to happen.

But those were the three things that I was like, okay, maybe I can at least finish high school or I can at least go work for the Port Everglades, you know, because my uncles were doing it and my great grandfather was doing it.

And so, yeah.

Was there someone that came into your life and showed you, okay, this is what success looks like? Like not someone in the NBA, not necessarily a preacher in the pulpit, but like somebody that you actually had access to? Well, like your first time where you were like, oh, wait a second.

But they also have other hotels with shuttles that will take you there if driving to the port yourself or parking is not really an option for your family.

Well, and going off of that, Angela, you sail quite a bit out of the Fort Lauderdale area, which Port Everglades is a little bit newer for Disney.

But if you were coming in a day early in that area, what are you thinking? Where would you go?

I seem to always go in like the, what's it called, Dania Beach area.

It also has quick and easy rides to the port the next morning.

Yeah, absolutely.

It's one of our go-to places as well when we're going out of Port Everglades.

But we now know, right, at the time of us recording this podcast, we now know that the fall 2027 which is wild to say itineraries are out and we know we're going back to galveston and so don you're our texas girly here so you know if we were hanging out in texas and in galveston where would you you know look to do a day before your cruise

Yep.

And that's the funny thing, Tim, is like I went on a celebrity cruise, an older celebrity reflection ship out of the Port Everglades down in Fort Lauderdale.

And, you know, they had like a regular size theater.

It was very adult.

So We had this nice car service that took us straight to the port.

And seeing that the port is not organized in a way that you tend to think of Cape Canaveral or Port Canaveral and Port Everglades, and they're real clear, that was confusing.

Like, we were able to find where the Disney ship would be, but there's no, you know, lining up if you've got the port gold status on DCL, which is very exciting.

They don't care about that.

Yes, that's right.

Because up until now, the Destiny has been sailing out of Fort Lauderdale, Port Everglades, I think is what it's called there.

So yeah, it's interesting.

If that's moving to Port Canaveral towards the end of 2027, it stands to reason that the Believe could sail out of there.
